    Gateway NV53 (MS2285) DC Input

    Hey All,

I have a Gateway NV53 MS2285 that was given to me to repair with a broken AC/DC Input Jack. It seemed like a pretty easy removal and solder on the new jack. However when taking a look at the board there is a surface mounted part (it looks like a possibly a transistor, one input two output. based on my research possibly a small outline transistor?) on the other side of the board that is broken as well. The lead is broken off inside the ceramic so I cant reconnect it.

The board labellings near the part are Lid 1, and EC2. The part itself is labelled as FD916. Ive looked for any kind of any information on this but havent been able to find anything.

Any information anyone could provide or place to suggest to research would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advanced.

Sounds like it is part of the lid switch circuit. It's the thing responsible for the laptop taking an action (such as turning off the screen or going to standby) when the lid is closed. Could you by any chance take some nice clear pictures of the area? Then we can guess better which part it should be.

      HP 15-n070sw broken power input.

HP 15-n070sw (DAOU82MB6D0 REV.D) broken power input. Control pin short with 19V.
Now, after plug power input led power button & power blink 13 times and light led power socket I start the laptop but no picture on screen only backlight light. The external screen connected via hdmi does not display either.
I'm now wondering if a short circuit in the 19V socket could also cause the lack of image on the screen. Please rate and tell me what 13 flashes of the power LED mean.
      Sorry my english.

820-02020 Super Weird Issue: Keyboard Input Character Map "Wrong"?
      by ugamazing
So, I have a really bizarre issue that I'm struggling to identify the cause of. Working on an 820-02020 board with some bizarre keyboard/input-source character mapping. My suspicion is a possible damaged SPI ROM (U1970), perhaps, but I'm really not sure in this case:

      1. The issue is pretty weird, but when installing MacOS, I noticed my WiFi password did not work. I quickly realized the special characters (!@#$%^& etc) were not mapping correctly.

      2. I noticed the keyboard layout/input-source is defaulting to JAPANESE every single time I restore the board. I am not...

Is it possible bridging tiny broken trace
      by chth96
When I assembled dreamcast I mistakenly fastened long bolt and It resulted in
      cutting tiny trace.
This tiny trace(Total width of white coating is 5.5mm) is between R337,R343 and IC101 and it is covered with white coating in the below screenshot.

Firstly I tried to bridging tiny broken trace with my own eyes...But it is totally impossible..So a week ago, I ordered G1200 Digital Microscope and I magnified this tiny broken trace with it.

But It seems that It is really very tiny trace So I plan to order 0.1mm coper wire from aliexpress in order to bridging...

Aorus 17G YD laptop, broken display, could not switch to external monitor
      by ArchangelGabriel
Hello guys! I need a little help, I have one laptop for repair, it is an Aorus 17G YD, gaming laptop. Broken display, some cable ripped form daughter board connector, case broken, battery discharged and probably locked, etc. After I did the most tedious job I ever did on soldering back the broken cables (shielded cable) , I measured resistance on CPU and GPU core, 3 and 5 v ps and any coils I find on the board, everything seems to be fine. After I plugged the charger I don't get the power led light on from the charger connection maybe because the battery is locked , but on power button I have
