Vivobook shuts down shortly after boot - even in BIOS

    Hi everyone,

I'm trying to figure out what's causing my laptop to boot up, but then shut down after about 30 seconds. It does the same thing whether I'm in BIOS or booting into Windows.
    Here are the specs:
    • Model: ASUS Vivobook Go 15 (E1504GA-BS31-CB)
    • CPU: Intel Core i3-N305 1.8 GHz
    • RAM: 8GB DDR4 (onboard)
    • Storage: 256GB M.2 NVMe SSD
    • Motherboard: E1404GA_MB REV:2.1 E89382 MV04 HSB J 2426 94V-0
The laptop was working fine earlier. The user closed the lid to put it to sleep (as they always do), and when they tried to use it again a few hours later, it started shutting down after about 30 seconds.

    So far, I've:
    • Replaced the thermal paste
    • Disconnected the internal keyboard
    • Removed the battery and booted with just the power brick
    • Tried a different power brick
    • Ran the fan test in BIOS — the fan was spinning normally

    But the issue still persists.
Any ideas on what could be causing this?

    Thanks in advance!

This motherboard has 2 similar chips. One is on the front marked with BIOS SKT "Winbond 25Q256JVEN" and one on the back marked with U351 "Gigadevice 25B256EYIG". I ignored the one on the back and only desoldered front chip. Made a backup, made sure the reading was the same with another 3 backups.

Asus ROG Ally X -RC72LA - changed hidden bios settings with 'Smokeless-UMAF', won't get past boot logo

ASUS ROG Ally X - (Handheld Gaming PC)
    Model No: RC72LA
    Serial No: SBNVKD001014459

Hi all, I've spent the past week digging through the forums and guides to try correct my foolish mistake of changing hidden settings while tinkering around, and to be honest my heads overloaded so I'm hoping you'll be able to help.

I used a tool called 'Smokeless-UMAF' to access usually hidden settings in the bios. I tweaked one or two 'safe' things but made the mistake of tweaking a lot of settings under 'USB/Thunderbolt Configurations' when I didn't know what they did. For...

K6604J Vivobook RTX 4070 BIOS Dump Request
    by greelidd
Hi all! Tldr: need a bios dump (.bin format) for K6604J (rtx 4070 and i9-13980hx)

Longer story: my vivobook stopped booting after i switched out the thermal paste. I think the BIOS got corrupted. Everything i tried didn’t work until finally i decided to buy a CH341A BIOS programmer and just send over the BIOS directly from another PC onto the BIOS chip. I connected fine and backed up the existing BIOS, but i can’t find a clean BIOS that’s a .bin format. And I tried using UEFI software to extract all the files from the ASUS BIOS .exe file and get to the .bin but it was a .302...

Hi, I have a few of these & they came with a custom bios boot logo, no passwords etc.

2 x were brand new unused but with custom boot logo, 1 I installed Windows/ran updates then it bricked itself. 1 wouldn't get past the custom bios boot logo.

The third I loaded windows, took a backup of the bios chip, then tried to flash several different clean bios's via programmer which all caused it to not boot. I tried to reflash the original bios both using clip & desoldering but...

Lenovo LOQ mdl 151RH8 bios Q: Can't get usb boot to list
    by Max029
I've searched and read Beginners guidelines and other sticky threads. This is just a simple bios question. If I may, I'm having trouble finding any help, including from lenovo tech support & forum, for how to get usb boot to list in boot options. I'm trying to run memtest86 so nothing as highfaluting as re-install, flash a bios, etc.

I've made usb boot enabled and secure boot is disabled. I can find no other option in bios ver LZCN34WW (the original bios). Would anyone here be familiar with LOQ or Legion bios versions & know what is going on?
