MacBook Pro 15" A1707, 2016 - No Display and Touch Bar

Hi, I am asking for a little troubleshooting advice.

The laptop seems to boot up fine. Caps lock is working, the touch pad has haptic feedback, and even the "charger plugged"-sound is present.
Power consumption is about 15-30W at boot and idles at about 20W.

Unfortunately, the display and the touch bar are completely black (No signal and no backlight).
I don't get a signal on an external USB-C display either. Also not in safe mode.
I noticed that only the left fan (from the bottom side, hinge on top) seems to spin up. I think this might be the CPU fan.

I have not worked on the motherboard so far.

Is the touch bar linked to the GPU?
Has anyone experienced this issue so far and has some advice?

    Thank you very much!
    Hauke

Touchbar will only work once it's booted into MAC OS. I wouldn't bother with that till you establish why the display isn't working. It should work on USB-C with the lid shut in clamshell mode at least.

Display could be dead, or liquid damage in the connector from motherboard to the display (very common issue). That usually destroys the display MUX IC, but unlike the 13" models, this protects the CPU display data lines from being damaged.

      Hello,

I am looking for the boardview file and the matching schematics (PDF) for the following MacBook Pro:
      • Model: A1707
      • 15-inch, Mid 2017
      • 3.1 GHz Core i7
      • 16 GB RAM
      • Radeon Pro 560
      • 1 TB SSD
      • Board number: 820-00928-A
I already searched the forum, but so far I haven’t found a matching boardview for this board. In several posts I came across, it was also mentioned that the uploaded files were often incorrect.

      Thanks in advance!

Macbook a1707 820-00281 Battery no Power
      by leonemax81
Hi guys I have a Macbook a1707 with motherboard 820-00281, without liquid damage that behaves strangely, with the battery connected the Macbook does not turn on and the USBC meter stops at 5v in loop, when I disconnect the battery the Macbook turns on and works fine, I have already tried to replace the battery twice without success, as soon as I connect the black cable of the battery the Macbook does not turn on, it stops at 5v and in loop.

      Macbook a1707 2017 model 820-00928 GPU issue
      by sofles
      Hello there

I have problem with Macbook Pro 15" 2017, model 2017, MB code 820-00928.

I bought it as broken with some artefacts on the screen, first I thought that this is problem with ribbon cable but after inspectiing ribbon cable I know it is fine. I tried to reinstall macOs and then I figured out that this must be something with GPU as installation freezes at the end (when drivers are loaded). I installed Windows and was able to install every each of drivers except GPU driver, as soon as I tried to install GPU driver - black screen and restart.
