Need help HP HSTNN_Q996 laptop... battery only power on but not on Adapter 19v ok no short ...

History of this laptop water damage... no power at first 19v CSR pin not present after replace first and 2nd mosfet.. 19v present... now its not turning on adapter present with battery not charging
but if battery only turns on... the corresponding voltages of the BQ24780s

    Schematic used: Qanta Y0F MB_DB1

    HP
    BQ24780S ADP only test
    CSR test
Before PIN 19.71 after pin 19.71
    ADP_ID Limit signal 800mv

    VCC 19.70v
    ACN 19.70v
    ACP 19.70v
    ACDET 2.750v
    ACDRIVE 25.45v
    CMSRC 19.67v
    I_SET 19.7v
    BQPROCHOT 0.700v
    ACOK 3.38v
    REGN 6.12v
    BQIADP 100mv to 129mv
    CLK 3.39v
    DATA 3.39v
    BQILM 3.38v
    CMPIN 1.56v
    CMPOUT 3.3v
    CMPON 0.76v
    BQHDRV 197mv
    BQLODRV 000v
    BATDRIVE 227.7mv
    BQPHASE 197.2mv

hope someone can enlighten me why it is not working on adapter on and not charging... powers on battery only...

    Review:

    1) adapter rating
    2) dual diode that is often on the vcc pin of the charger ic
    3) the power adapter ID voltage to identify the power rating

    4) Remove all power. Meter in resistance mode. Measure the resistance directly on the charger IC for the ACP / ACP pins. We are wanting to confirm the full path resistance of the adapter current sense circuit. The voltage measurements on ACP/ACN look ok but let us confirm this path as well.

good day sir... thank you for ur reply... this are the test i took...

      adapter rating 65w 19.5v 3.33Amps

adapter voltages when not connected to the motherboard
      3pins black= gnd
      white=ad_id = 18.88v
      red=positive = 19.71v

adapter voltages when connected to motherboard
      ADP_id= 0.800v red= 19.71v
      is ADP_id correct voltage?

REsistance between Adpter pin white and red not connected to motherboard
      380.8koms
      when connected to motherboard
      31kohms

      Resistance test ACP/ACN
Gnd to ACP/ACN = 23Mohms and going down
      CSR to ACP/ACN = 0ohms

      Voltage test
      ACP/ACN = 19.71v

      AD_ID(LIMIT_SIGNAL) circuit test
      AD_ID = 0.800v
      ADP_ID_CHK(SIO) = 000v
      I_SET (SIO) = 19.7v
      ADP_A_ID (SIO) = 0.599v
      OCP_A_IN (SIO) = 000v

Is Novuton NPCE576HA0YX_QFN the SIO of this board sir?

is there anyone here who have an idea what is the culprit... is it the SIO ? Novuton NPCE576HA0YX
if the SIO is the culprit then where can we buy the chip with program installed?
        ..
... tried replace with new adapter, same...
        tried change BQ... same status...

With battery only (no power adapter) - test to see if you see any voltage on the DCin mosfets that are between the power adapter and the main power rail. We are testing to see if the DCin mosfets are leaking. Often (as per the sticky above by @piernov) the DCin mosfets are the suspects for cases such as yours.

            thank you for ur reply...

            testing 1st mosfet
            Drain 2.6mv
            Source 64.3mv
            Gate 0.3mv

            testing 2nd mosfet
            Drain 11.39V
            Source 64.3mv
            Gate 0.2mv

            CSR 11.39V

these are the test taken... thank you.. do you think there is a leak?

Extreme High Current & Low Voltage Short Killer ??
                by DynaxSC
                Hi Folks

I'm looking for a extreme high current short killer solution for a reasonable cost.

I have an LGA1700 motherboard (ASUS PRIME Z790-P WiFi) where I exchanged the LGA socket already 3 times, and every time after the socket exchange I get a short of power supply lines VCORE (V variable) and VCCIN_AUX (1.8V).
After taking off the socket, the shorts dissappear again.
The soldermask on the socket is already partially demaged from the heat, so I have reconstructed the soldermask by manually painting the missing soldermask parts with a very small top of a...

MacBook Pro 14" A2442 Short on PPBUS_AON but no short present when injecting voltage!
                by Stephen
I check PPBUS_AON and there is a short present on the line, the computer shows a short when testing for short to ground, so when I inject voltage into the line, I get 0AMPS so no short is showing up. I have replaced a blown cap on this board that exploded and tested for the short and it is now removed. Any suggestions? I tested voltage at the line when the fuses are connected and I am getting 1.2 Volts at the line.

HP Victus 15-fb dag3pamb8d0 Short on VCORE – How to Confirm CPU Fault?
                by adelfr2009
I have a laptop HP Victus 15-fb with motherboard DAG3PRMB8D0, CPU Ryzen 7535HS, and GPU RTX 2050. The laptop has a power issue: it does not turn on at all, and there is no light on the DC jack.
After inspection, I found that an NMOS near the charger input had a short. I replaced it, but the short remained on the 19V line. I checked the charging circuit and it was fine, but the short appears after the current sense resistor near the charger. The charger does not pass current when connected, so I inject 3V–4V after the sense resistor. No component gets hot, except the CPU which becomes...

Acer Nitro 5 LA-L181p power LED turns on by 5 secs (Short on PCH rail?)
                by Victor Moreira Silva
                Hello everyone,

I'm trying to repair my old Acer Nitro 5 (AN517-54-55T5). I've already bought a new laptop, so this is more of a learning project. For the experience, with no high expectations of success.

Well, my decice specs are the following:

                Model: Acer Nitro 5 AN517-54-55T5
                CPU: Intel Core i5-11400H
                GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650
                Motherboard: GH51G LA-L181P Rev:1c

                The symptom:
When pressing the power button, the power LED lights up for about 5 seconds and then turns off. Initially, the issue was intermittent: sometimes...
