    MacBook Pro M1 13 820-02020 stuck at 5V 0.1A

Board had some light liquid damage, nothing serious, just one bad looking cap that I removed (from PPBUS_G3H to ground), near speaker amps.
There was no corrosion as such, just few tiny spots, really minor.

The board is stuck at 5V, it draws 0.1A all the time. Only at poweron the amperage surges up to about 0.15-0.18A, then it settles at 0.1A.
I put it in DFU and it didn't do anything, wasn't detected on other machine.

Voltages all seem OK near the CD3217 chips, all LDOs are present, also no liquid damage was nowhere around those.
But measuring other voltages, all of them were present when I checked the PP5V_S2 which is missing.
    PPBUS_G3H is 12.3V, PP3V8_AON is 3.8V,...

So this is about what I checked, but don't know what to check next. I am not sure if the problem is with USB-C detection or it might be with CPU or something completely else

    PP5V_S2 which is missing.
Remove all power. Meter in resistance mode. What is the exact resistance to ground of PP5V_S2?

Resistance is over 2M ohms. Diode drop is 0.315.
      PP5VS2_EN is also missing

Found a corroded resistor: RD531, replaced it, no change. Also that cap that was shorting PPBUS_G3H was CR604 which I removed, but it should work without it.

Next, I was checking all the LDOs and discovered that I am missing one voltage: MPMU_VREF_ADC, which is at 0V. All other voltages (except for PP5V_S2) are all present.
MPMU_VREF_ADC is not shorted and it reads 0.590 in diode mode.

So where to look next? Nothing else is looking crusty or corroded.

So in essence, what I found and corrected:
          - CR604 was badly corroded and removed
          - RD531 was O/L also corroded and replaced
          - CD3217 area wasn't affected at all, every LDO voltage measure spot on

          Voltages:
-All voltages expect the following are present:
-PPBUS_G3H is 12.3V (should be 12.6V or more)
-PP5V_S2 is missing and not shorted
-PP5VS2_EN is also missing (generated by U8100)
-On the U8100 all LDO voltages are present, except for MPMU_VREF_ADC
-U7700 has all the output voltages present

So from what I have gathered, the U8100 might be at fault, but I've seen other threads of similar U8100 issues (missing MPMU_VREF_ADC), and replacing it with another U8100 didn't solve it.

            MacBook Pro 13 inch A2238 M2 stuck on 5V
            by Bmet
            Hi,

I have a MacBook Pro 13 inch A2238 M2 and it was stuck 5V with 0 amps. I measured some important lines and I found a short on PP3V8_AON_MPMU_ISNS_VIN, I tried injecting 1v and I saw heat coming from the mPMU so I removed the pmu thinking that was the problem. I don't know why I didn't check the other side of the border but there it was, a shorted cap. I replaced the cap and the short was gone, so I reballed the PMU and put it on again but voltage was still stuck at 5V and the current was fluctuating between 0 and 0.45 amps. I checked under the thermal camera and I saw the mPM...

            Dear friends,
a close friend of mine gave me this machine, she told me that the last days the fan was going high and that it was heating up too much for the usual things, and that suddenly one morning it didn't start anymore .
I opened it and inspected carefully with a high magnifying lens, found no oxydized spots but a short on PPBUS_G3H , then a blown U6903.
            I changed U6903 with a new one, PPBUS_G3H became 558 (measuring with red probe to gnd , and black on F7000) , PP3V3_G3H_RTC 463.
Now when I plug the usbc cable (original Apple 61W power supply), nothing starts automatically,...

            MacBook Pro 2018 A1989 820-00850-A Stuck at 5.00V and 0.150A
            by MyronViegas
            Hey guys,

I got a MacBook Pro a1989 820-00850-A dead for repair. The MacBook itself was off for a month or so and it didn't power on. I tested using ammeter and it was stuck on 5v. Opened the machine and found a short on ppbus_g3h, corrosion near the right spkr_amp. removed the spkr_amp and saw short on ppbus_g3h. plugged in to power, boosted to 20v .600A and then back down to .300A. Trackpad was clicking when on .600A but no image etc.

Later, I tried again but it dropped down to 5v and never boosted back to 20V. checked board again and found ppbus_g3h shorted again....

            Macbook Pro A1706 820-00923-05 Stuck At 5V 0.03A
            by Steven Pieter
hello everyone, let me ask, I have a macbook which is stuck at 5v and 0.03 A when tested with a usb tester. Previously I wanted to replace the screen on the device, but by accident I forgot to unplug the battery. This caused the MacBook to get stuck at 5v, previously I had replaced the CD3215 (U3100) IC because it was warm. After I replaced it the problem was still not resolved. Please guide. Thank you
