Reader PocketBook InkPad 3 – identification of a black component marked 'CT' on the microUSB line

    Hello,

    Device: PocketBook InkPad 3
    Mainboard: XRZ_E091_PB740-VTTOA-V1.1 / 2017-10-12

I'm replacing the broken microUSB connector on this e-reader, and during inspection after desoldering, I noticed a loose black SMD component marked "CT". One of them was torn off along with the pad, while the other one (marked in the photo) is still in place.

I would appreciate help identifying this component.

Measuring the loose component with a multimeter gives 5.84 MΩ in both directions, while the one still on the board shows no measurable result.
The dimensions suggest it's in 0402 package.

From what I could trace visually, these components are located on the data lines of the microUSB port.

Thanks in advance for any help!

This will most likely be a UNIDIRECTIONAL, 0402 SMD TVS diode to protect the USB D+ / D- lines.

Configure your meter in DIODE mode. Red meter probe on the anode = back end of the DIODE arrow head; black meter probe to the bar side of the arrow head on the diode - meter should conduct. Reverse the meter leads and the meter should block = 'OL'. Confirm this test.

Repeat with the part on the board.

These parts are present to shunt and protect any excessive transients on the USB data lines. Many vendors offer replacement parts for this purpose including:

NOTE: The capacitance of the protection diode is very important. If the capacitance is too high, then the protected USB data line will be tardy on the rise / fall and will cause the USB port to fail at high data rates. Ideally, purchase a part that is rated for USB 3.0 / 3.1 data rates which will be ultra low in capacitance such as 0.3pf, etc. If the protection diode is with a high capacitance then that part was designed to protect the USB VBUS line which is a static voltage rail - not a pulsing one like the data lines on the USB connector.

I am not sure if this is the right place to post this but I need help identifying a surface mount rectangle diode and all that is printed on it is "DK" it seems to be open so I can't read anything off it. It's in a HP laptop by the power switch. TIA for any help.

      Hello!
I have an Acer motherboard with a chip i can not find equivalent, its a MESC5V02BD03_SOT23-3 which has inscrit on it L5B.
Could somenone help me find a compatible or equivalent one?
Which kind of component might be this?
      Thank you in advance....

Samsung UN50TU8000FXZC shows thin horizontal green line when warm
      by cubytus
      Hi to all,

I was given this TV, an entry-level 4K 50" set. Some have criticized its lack of contrast and relatively poor colour rendering, but for my needs, it's very decent.

I reset everything to factory settings, but this line keeps on fading in and out when watching a streaming channel from the Tizen firmware. Interestingly, it only happens when TV is warm, after about 1h45 of it being turned on.

Watching a movie from an external source doesn't trigger the line as easily (needs 2 hours), and from a normal viewing distance, is hardly noticeable. It...

      Kogan - KALED65XU9220STB - Blue Vertical Line
      by TrueSword88
      Hi all.

I have a Kogan 65' LCD Panel with a thin blue vertical line (top to bottom) on left hand side of panel.
The line just happens to coincide with the end of COF and start of the next COF (attached).

The line is permanent no matter what I've tried. I've tried pressure testing the panel (top to bottom) and all over, I didn't notice any difference with the line, either temporary or semi-permanent.

Also tried unplugging all flex cables, cleaned with isopropyl then re-inserting to no avail - line remains.

      Hoping to fix...

Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3rd Gen component identification
      by speggio91
      Hi everyone,

I'm trying to repair a Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3rd Gen audio interface that was accidentally exposed to 12V on the USB-C VBUS line instead of the normal 5V. A component marked as U1 on the PCB has completely blown up together with the capacitors C17, C15.

From the teardown video linked below, it's indicated that U1 is a voltage regulator (switcher) with 6 pins. Unfortunately, the original part on my board is so damaged that I can't make out any markings or identify it.
