gigabyte nh50hpbm charges battery but doesn't power up

the sio has a slight glow to it under the thermal camera. pwr_btn stays high at 3.3v after pressing the power button. PCH_DPWROK doesn't go higher than 1.0v. ec_rsmrst stays at 0v

To save time, always link the schematic.

The 'NH50HP' schematics are posted in the schematics forum.

Locate and short the power button signal line to ground to emulate the power button.

The power button is an active low signal. By default, the parked voltage on this line should be 3v3 when the power button is OPEN.

When you press the button, the button should pull this line to 0v since the other side of the power button is mated to ground. Confirm it. After the button is released, the pull-up resistor will park the line once again to a value of 3v3.

If you do not see this action, confirm the wiring to the power button line. As requested, use tweezers to short the pins on the connector block itself. See above and post back the test results.

Mb not triggering at all can be for many reasons.

Check RTC circuit/basic requirement of SIO like whether its powered or not,EC_RST#/LIDSW# etc.

What's the resistance to GND on RSMRST#? Should be 10K or higher.

i think vcc_rtc is supposed to be 3.3v but it's 4.9 ohms to ground

Try the following. Carefully flux and remove:

R418 ; 0 ohm resistor - then test the resistance to ground again

                    If still shorted, continue..

C655 ; remove and test resistance to ground again

R294 ; remove and test resistance to ground again

Post your updates. Do not power up with out these parts. We are only hunting for the shorted component on this rail.

i injected voltage before reading the last post. The resistance to ground instantly went back to normal and the computer is back in business. i had to put that the orignal bios and EC programming because it wasn't posting or detecting the battery

The injection process caused the shorted part to cry uncle and died. Probably was a shorted bad cap.

Hey! Good name for a website?

Respectively removing itself from the shorted rail. Either way, glad that it is fixed.

Sticking to basics solves more then 90% of repair cases as long as one has patience.

                            by DynaxSC
                            Hi,

I discovered a strange behaviour of GIGABYTE GA-H110M-S2 board.

                            General test conditions:
                            - Tested with Core i5 6500 and Core I7 6700K - no difference
                            - Default BIOS settings, but tried also altering several memory setting - does not change anything

                            What is wrong:

With BIOS F1 and F2 the board normally POST's and boots to Windows 11 with 2 x Patriot Viper Steel PVS416G440C9K RAM (4400MHZ, Samsung B-Die chips)

When BIOS upgraded to anything above F2 (ie. F20-F27b) the board POST stucks after 3 Debug Codes on Code C2

                            by momaka
More eBay specials: this time a Gigabyte GP-P450b 450W ATX PSU for $8 with free S&H. Listed “For part/not working”, as usual. Showed up in a beat up EVGA box without any padding… but that's understandable given the total price. PSU made it out fine without damage. It's a non-modular (yay!), pretty modern-day looking PSU with a black paint and all black cables (meh, not my favorite, but figure it's good to keep a few of these in case I do need one for a more modern PC build, just so my old gray boxes don't look too odd in there.)

And a shot of the label:...
