    HP 15-CS3131NB G7BD(2G) shorted cap

    Hello,

I have this board in for repair, it came in not charging, not powering on. Found a short on a cap near the charger IC.
With the cap removed, the laptop charges and works, but seems to work very slow.
I have a second board with the exact same problem, and the exact same capacitor shorted. So I replaced the bad capacitor with the good second capacitor of the other board, and the laptop works fine now.
I'm trying to identify which type capacitor this is, so I can order new ones to fix the 2nd board too, and maybe some future incoming since this seems to be a weak spot.

In attachment you can find a picture of the capacitor. The charger IC is ISL88739B, maybe this helps.
    Any help would be appreciated.

      it is on pin 31, so i need 2200pF 25v i assume ?

Not sure. If it goes to ground, yes. If it mates with the pin 32 then it is 0.1uf.

it is connected to ground, the one that mates with pin 32 is the smaller cap on the top left of the ic

The cap looks fairly large in physical size. Consider to measure the part with a micrometer or just purchase a few of these parts in different sizes.

Try to purchase the capacitor in:

0402 ; do not believe it is an 0402 but they will be cheap to buy as insurance
            0603
            0805
            1206

SMD sizes. Hunt for the same or higher voltage rating as indicated in the schematic.

it looks to be a 0603, I will order some of these and try, thanks a lot for your guidance and advise.
