Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 GA401IU-HE103T GPU Nvidia Issue

    Hello all,
I am having an issue with this laptop, on which I repaired the motherboard on other power issues (PMIC, mosfets etc) and it came back to life, but I am having problem with the GPU NVIDIA GTX 1660. It gets error 43 in device manager with exclamation mark and does not work. When I install official asus driver or official nvidia latest, the error goes away until you reboot the laptop, where the error comes back again.
GPU-Z software does not show many information and vbios info is missing (photo attached).

Because the customer sent the laptop to 2 other labs trying to repair it, I don't know what they did exactly. I noticed that the bios chip was soldered and a connector next to it a bit melted from hot air, BIOS is also missing the serial number of the laptop, so something there is not nice. Also, usb mouse+trackpad do not work inside bios. FYI, BIOS shows the nvidia card.
GPU power rails and vram rails are all up and running.

Do you think that this could be software/bios/vbios related issue?
Attached you can find the bios and vbios chip dumps.

    The board is GA401IV REV1.4.
    Laptop Serial Number L7NRKD00345129B
    BIOS latest 222
AMD RYZEN 7 with GTX 1660
    CN: B60H
    MFD: 2020-07

    Thank you in advance.

Hi! I’m have a similar issue with your client’s laptop. My laptop suddenly went black screen and the fan was on with max rpm. When I’m playing any games, the issue wasn’t there, but when I was idle, it happened. I once checked armoury crate and the gpu is on power saving mode whilst being plugged in. A technician tested by removing the ram, and switching the ram, but the issue still persist. And the other technician told me to reinstall windows and now, without any games to run, my laptop immediately went black screen. I noticed that if I didn’t plug my laptop, it won’t go black screen. I also installed discord, but I can only open it once because after roughly 30 mins, it went black screen again. After the hard boot, i cant’t open discord and the laptop lags. I can move the cursor but I couldn’t open other app such as discord, i can’t even open device manager. I turned it on on BIOS mode and it can run properly without any issue (i ran bios mode for 1 hour).
is the problem is in the gpu, motherboard, or there’s other source that might cause that problem?

if you have any opinion or solution this issue, i kindly ask you to reply me.
Thank you and have a good day!

ASUS Zephyrus GA401I Severe Lag, Suspect Motherboard/Power Issue - Need Help Diagnosing
      by MakNCheese
      Hi everyone,

I'm having a serious issue with my ASUS Zephyrus GA401I (4 years old, worked perfectly until recently). The system is lagging heavily, even in the BIOS, and is charging extremely slowly (a few percent in hours), making it nearly unusable. I suspect a motherboard or power delivery issue.

      Symptoms:
      • Severe lag across the system, including BIOS navigation.
      • Slow boot times and unresponsive performance in Windows.
      • Battery charges very slowly (e.g., ~5% in 2–3 hours).
      • No error messages or BSODs, just extreme sluggishness.

      What I've Tried:
      • Replaced

      by roko10
Hello, I have tried to copy the nvidia vbios from an MSI GL63 8RC laptop to another similar laptop. I have used the CH341a programmer. I have read the vbios and saved it to program the other chip. The fact is that after soldering the chips again, The two graphics do not work. Can anyone provide the Vbios dump for this laptop? Thank you

Lenovo P50 - nvidia issue - how to reset bios?
      by x16
My P50 has a faulty nvidia graphics card. It only works with intel. I installed Windows and it works fine withe the intel graphic.
Then i switched in bios under config->graphics device from "hybrid graphics" to "discrete graphics". Now i have no picture.

I reset the bios over shorting cmos battery, but still no picture. So i need to change the grapics setting back to hybrid graphics again.

I need a way to make bios changes over bios dump. Is that possible?
