    Help in identifying a component - HP 15-cs3009na DAG7BLMB8D0

A shop changed the fan on the above and it stopped booting so they sent it to me. All I get is 5 long 3 short flashes on the CAPS lock. I tried flashing the bios and EC chip still the same and then i noticed 3 components missing (2 x resistors and a capacitor) from near to the fan connector.

I've checked and there is not schematics available for this model, so I need help in finding out what the values are of the 2 resistors are, I'm not that bothered about the capacitor. I know that's going to be very difficult unless someone has a donor/working motherboard so i thought i would try and work it out from the main chip which the are connected to.

The marking on the main chip is 5V=7K and under this is L97

Any help would be much appreciated

Mon2 thank you so much. So i've had a look at the datasheet and the resistors that are missing are from pin 4,5 VDIO, VCLK to the CPU.

Still not sure what the values of them would be.

Anyone would like to have a guess or do i just put 0hms in there.

Thank you... Looks like i need a 45.3_0402_1% and 100_0402_1%

Where the hell am i going find a 45.3!!!!

Thanks again both of you for your help... time to raid the donor boxes and get probing

              Thanks Mon2

I found them both on a Dell donor board... both swopped and we have a working HP laptop again.

Identifying backlight resistors, power supply is a BN44-00852
                by unimatrix93
Dear forum, I would like to ask some help identifying the backlight circuits resistors to limit the ampere to the backlight leds.
The power supply is a BN44-00852 and I want to decrease the backlight to increase the lifetime of the LEDs.
The TV is pretty much always on, used for CCTV cameras.

I suspecting R9838 -> R9841 resistors but I'm not sure. Thanks in advance!

                by bjh06
Hello, I have a A2992 board in which has some damage to the rear and a number of missing components. Does anybody have a good photo of this area, and could help identify the missing resistors.

                Thanks...

diagnosing an old ATX PSU help identifying resistors (PowerComputing TCX-20D)
                by tony359
                Hi all,

I'm diagnosing an old ATX PSU. Symptoms are:
                - PSU turns on regardless of the ON/OFF status for a few seconds
                - Voltages don't reach nominal
                - PSU then turns off and needs power cycle to power on again

I found two charred resistors, they're across the main capacitors on the primary, I think they are bleeding resistors?

They're both charred, but I don't think it's the issue with the PSU as they read 22kOhm

See pics. Is the black band some custom tolerance then? As 22Kohm should be Red-Red-Orange.

Schematic vs. Reality: Where Are the Resistors on My Sharp Clock Radio? Model FY-70CH
                by TinkerTron
                Hey everyone,

I'm currently working on a mid-70s Sharp Electronic Digital Clock Radio, Model FY-70CH. I found the service manual online, printed it out, and have been studying it for a while. My main reasons for tackling this are: (1) I want to learn electronics and figured I'd start with something I had on hand, and (2) I want to fix its issues. Right now, the radio sounds awful, has about 5V DC at the speaker terminals, and the alarm time setting doesn't work. But I'm not asking how to fix these problems.

Instead, here's what's been bugging me so far:
                The schematic...

                Identifying these resistors
                by Sudsy55
                G'day all,

new here and fairly dumb electronics wise but learning slowly. i have a project i'm working on that has some surface mount resistors that i'm not sure how to identify. one has 222 on it but the middle 2 is underlined and measures 2.1k. The other has 184 with the same underline and this measures 70 something k. These are both still in circuit. Everywhere i've searched i have not found anything relating to an underline when searching for codes. Do any of the gurus on here know what the underline means?

                Cheers

                Bob
