    MacBook Pro 2019 A2159 (2-port) wont boot

    Trackpad clicks.

Plugging in a genuine USB-C charger and any other charger = 20V and charges all the way.

Plugging in a Dell USB-C dock or monitor causes the voltage to cycle endlessly between 5V and 19V

The Caps Lock button doesn't illuminate.

Holding the power button (fingerprint scanner) for 10 seconds stops the trackpad clicking temporarily, but it starts clicking again after 3 seconds.

If I open the lid slightly, the trackpad stops clicking (it seems to be detecting the lid opening/closing).

The keyboard backlight is not working.

The Touch Bar is not displaying anything.

Resetting the SMC and PRAM, as well as fully discharging the battery, has not resolved the issue.

    I've replaced the display.

I've even bench-tested the logic board with nothing attached, plugging in a genuine USB-C charger and any other charger = 20V but the same 5/19V loop cycle when connected to a USB-C hub or monitor.

No physical components are visually damaged

I'm at a loss as to where to start troubleshooting this problem any help will be appreciated

Is this dock a confirmed good USB-C dock? Source another from Amazon for testing. They are fairly inexpensive. The monitor is mating through this same dock?

Remove all power. Do not use the above USB-C dock.

Meter in DIODE mode. Red meter probe, yes red, to ground.

Black meter probe to point to test.

Test each inductor on the board in DIODE mode -> compare the attached chart.

Post any suspects. Again - no power / no battery to the board in diode mode testing.

The USB-C dock and monitor are separate devices used for testing because I initially thought the display was defective due to a crack on the lower right corner.

WD15 docking station: is capable of outputting 19.5V/3.34A
Dell P2419HC: has built-in power delivery, capable of outputting 20V/3.25A

Both devices work on all other Macs and laptops.

I don't have much experience... what should I be looking for? I posted my results in my last post but this method of testing is new to me

MacBook Pro 13inch 2017mid (A1706 820-00923-A) - liquid damage - USBC and Display short circuit
          by rilley
          Hello everyone,
I am new into this, sorry to post it here. I want to make this as a pet hobby project, as this mac is not urgent.

          I have (Macbook Pro 13inch 2017mid) A1706 820-00923-A

My mac had liquid damage a long time ago, the connector from J8500 is damaged on pin 46 (PP5V_S0_ALSCAM_F), I guess the LCD/display panel is in short circuit, as I saw the connector from the LCD burned as well.

And the resistor L4004 is literally burned.

From what I see from the schematics, it does not affect any other rails, only the connection to the display...

Hello! Please help with a strange disease that I have never encountered before.
At first I got the following status:
MacBook does not turn on. Current consumption is about 0.500-0.600A at 20V from USB-C.
          - no signs of rust, or spilled water
          - CPU gets hot, fan still spins, no Capslocks light
then I cleaned it and I got the following video:
          - Cannot install software, and after a while I get a red screen and the whole thing freezes

Password removal on MacBook Pro A2159
          by mferna14
Hi friends., I am working on MacBook Pro A2159 touchbar 2019. The old logic board was liquid spilled so I ordered another logic board from AE. Received it & all worked fine till I got to the Chinese login screen where the login screen password tobe entered. I tried to reset the password but it again gave me options which I do not know about the Apple ID. I formatted the onboard SSD. & wanted to change the startup boot sequence but in order to change it, again the password is needed for that too. Is there a way to get rid of this password?? The seller has not replied back past 2 days, how...

MacBook Pro 2018 with Activation Lock
          by envym
          Hi everyone!

I have a 2018 MacBook Pro (with Sequoia OS) that I've been using for years with no problem. I recently received an M2 MacBook Pro so I'm mostly using it and not the 2018 one, but since a friend of mine needs a computer, I thought I could restore my 2018 and give it brand-new-like to my friend.

I tried using the built-in tool to restore the MacBook (Settings > General > Transfer or restore > Delete) but it got stuck when trying to remove the Find Device configuration (it asked me for the password for my old Apple ID -now I use the same account but...
