A little question about s5 state...

    Hello everybody...

    Can anyone clarify....
I'm reading many books, watching shitloads of videos etc...
Some of them are claiming that S5 signal from SIO/KBC sholud be present as soon as charger is connected, some says only after pressing pwr...
Is it mobo architecture & KBC dependant???
    i'm little bit confused...

I'm also confused about this but when I read some power sequence manuals, S5 is enabled when charger or battery is inserted. Or maybe there are different types of S5 signals.

It depends on the SIO chip the laptop motherboard uses. For more information, you should check the timing diagram.

Re: A little question about s5 state...

Makes more sense after charger plugged in...According to my knowledge, the mobo comes to s5 state after plugged in...In this state all regulators and devices are switched off except SIO,BIOS,3&5V regulator & battery charger regulator (I know in some new architectures it may be also LAN,PCI,USB etc)...
The S5ON signal should turn all devices that are working in this state (at least according to ACPI documentation, but didn't read it -700 pages lol)

        Now the question:

Let's take Quanta AX3 as an example...

I can see S5_ON goes to PQ32 and enable some of the voltages(Am I right???)...
Could anyone tell me which voltages are enabled after S5_ON on this particular schematic???
