    cheap solution for bga rework?

    Hi guys,

I'm really tired of relying on my friends re-ball workstation, having to travel 2h and pay 40€ to do these jobs..

As I was reading unique thread on his re-ball jobs, I read about is cheaper solution using a hot air station with bga nozzle on top and a irda table to provide heat underneath, and I was wondering, could it be a even cheaper, yet, stable solution for a temporary BGA station until I get the money for the real deal?

I googled a bit and found some simultaneous amazing and scary solutions for home made BGA stations. From using a electric stove plate, to using 250W IR light bulbs, etc.. Scary because I believe it's too much heat and probably damaging for other components.
The one it looked safest to me was one with a modified halogen stove.

Well, I have a hot air station, and my question is, do you guys have any ideas/recommendations for me for a cheap solution to apply heat underneath and do re-ball jobs until I get money for the real deal?

    Thanks.

I found bgamods.com forum, but they have such complete jobs and so much diversity it makes it even more difficult to find a simple solution..

If you want a cheap bottom heater you will have to use something like what you just mentioned, otherwise buy a proper one.

But you won't overheat anything IF you have a good thermocouple and control system for whatever you are using as a heater.

A lot of people say the Puhui T-8280 preheater is a decent tool for the price.

13x13cm is not going to be enough for all boards, but should do for most laptops. For that price you cannot complain.

Thanks, I think I'll risk it.
BTW, I'm also thinking in investing in a EZP2010 BIOS programmer, I can get them in 24h for about 40€.. My question is, will this be compatible with most laptop BIOS from 2008 till now?

              Thanks.

There are used ones here http://www.alibaba.com/showroom/used...k-station.html but no prices. I've asked for a price on the Puhui preheater, just to get an idea, and I'll let you know what they say.
