I have almost Similar issue here ...
this G62 laptop had a blinking power button when you switch on. after sometime of reading posts on this forum i have decided to do some check-up.now the laptop works on battery but only after i removed PQ808 (ac_off) but it does not charge the battery or power on with Charger. it only with-draws about 0.56-1.11A from the power supply. if I replace PQ808 it still blinks and does not switch on. please help...

pq808 is just there to switch off the lappy.

1 check pq800 Gate voltage ( 19x240)/(240+240)=9,5V

2 check pu800 pin 22 (dcinpmos=19V)

3 check m31aacin pin 2 pu800 ( 19x33)/(200+33)=2,69V

4 check m31aacok pin 13 pu800 or gate pin of pq807 (must be 3,3V)

5 check pq801 gate pin DCINPMOS_Q=( 19x10)/(100+10)=1,7V

I have done the measurements and here are the outcomes:
PU800 PIN 2 =2.2V
PU800 PIN 22= 19.9
PU800 PIN 13 = 0.0v (M31AACOK)

please help me with the clue on what the next step is.

maybe it can be that the chip that lets your battery charge has got a problem so i know the battery charges but may be look into where it should switch between normal ac and battery power on the mb if that makes sense lol

can someone please help ...what steps do i take further to fix the ACOK issue on this G62. AC seem not to be detected but 19v is there and found on the board as well as 3.3v and 5v but it doesnt switch on with Charger only with battery, and ACOK Pin on PU800 or gate of PQ807 is 0.0v

please Help me out...

check ACOK line to ground if there is no short

1 remove pq807 and check if you got acok voltage .

2 if yes replace pq800 and pq801 (one of them might have low impedance)

3 put back pq807 and check again

I have 3 laptops G62, and all of them have the same problem.
All of them works great only with one charger. They works great only with HP 19v, 4.7A charger.
I tried with HP 19v, 3.2A, Dell and Compaq chargers with 19v, 4.7A, but the power led just starts blinking. This all chargers is the same and for exemple, one Dell laptops works great with all this chargers.

Is this G62 so strict about what charger is ok for it?

Is anyone who knows what is happening?

Probably those others chargers don't send the right charger ID data or voltage.

Hello all,

i also have a HP G62-b10sv which powers on only with battery and if i plug in the charger

and remove the battery then it keeps running, but it will not power on only with AC.

The motherboard part number is 597673-001 and i am referring that because the MAXIM

chip on this board is PU5 and not PU800 unless i am reading something wrong.

I have already replaced maxim 8731 but that did not solve the problem, any

suggestions where to look and measure ? 19v,5v and 3.3v appear to be present on the

board.

Hello i have the same problem!! Is ther a bypass from the maxim ic charger? Or can i conect the 19v to the batery line to power up the laptop with the charger? Hellp please
