    Dell shutdown after 6 seg.

I have a laptop Dell inspirion that shutdown after 5,6 seg.
If I remove Ram, it doesnot shutdown.
If I plug RAM again but remove CPU it doesnot shutdown too.
Well, if only RAM is removed it doesnot shotdown. If only CPU is removed it doesnot shutdown. But if both are pluged it starts and shutdown after 6 seg.
I tried already to change CPU and RAM and it does the same thing.

    Any idea?

Which laptop and what size RAM are you trying to use? It's worth noting some GM45/GS45/GE45 chipsets refuse to boot with RAM sticks below 1GB in size.

Remove WiFi card/DVD drive/basically everything else except the bare minimum it needs to boot.

Does the CPU or the NB get hot when powering? Also check to see if the NB, SB or CPU are getting hot when powered off.

Sounds to me like a BIOS issue or possible thermal shutdown.

      Hi,

I try it only mobo, ram and cpu. I tried with different RAM. 1 or 2 GB.
Tried different CPU. All became hot, but not too hot to burn. I think it is normal.

Do you know which is the order that CPU, NB, SB, GPU are powered?

If you don't tell us the model of the notebook, nobody can assume .
Model so we can find a schematic.
Just cook it! It's already broken.

Would you precise platform of motherboard to help find the right schematic ?
Is it intel or amd based ?
