    Thank you for reply. I have damaged this cable and replaced it with new board with cable attached. Still the same thing is happening. Again i have bought brand new motherboard.

    I have the old motherboard and will try to test the components in the power supply circuit as described in the other posts on this subject.

        Hi, update on this. Changed the Power button board, and voila, everything is working now.

                It's amazing that every time I have the strangest PCB issues I think to myself, "there's no way someone posted something on badcaps about it", and I'm wrong every time! I had the same problem with an Inspiron 1545 after replacing the DC jack, the fix is the same as in the picture only you need to jump PIN 7 instead of PIN 5.

                    Registered to say a massive thanks for this post. Helped me out knowing what the centre pin was supposed to be connected to. Just ordered a new DC board.

                        My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

                        Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

                        My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
                        The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.

                        Hi Guys,
                        I am seeking some assistance with a Dell Inspiron 3593 FD155 LA-J081P (REV 1.0) (A00) laptop
                        The laptop is working fine with the adapter plugged in and also with a charged battery.
                        Problem is that the laptop is not charging the battery. The battery is recognized in the bios but the
                        ac adapter is listed as 'Not Installed'. So for instance, when a charged battery from another source
                        loses its charge, it stays on 0%.

                        Hi all,

                        I'm troubleshooting an issue with a laptop where it doesn't seem to want to charge the battery. The laptop will run off the battery alone and use/drain the battery normally in this situation, it will run off the AC adapter alone, and it will run with both charger and battery connected, but it doesn't seem to charge the battery under any circumstance.

                        The laptop works just fine (on battery and power supply) and doesn't cause any problems, except those described below:

                        recently i was gifted a dell inspiron 5567 for wiping the data on the hard drive. (yay me). however i already have a computer that i use, so i have no need for this computer. this computer wasn't without its problems though.

                        1. i had to purchase an adapter to retrofit my older style dell laptop battery cable. (not too expensive) ~= 10 bucks for a 2 pack via amz.

                        2. after that i had to find a spare cr2032 (easily found in my parts bin) and assemble a makeshift cmos battery thanks to some copper foil tape and some heat shrink tubing.

                        got the computer...
