recently i was gifted a dell inspiron 5567 for wiping the data on the hard drive. (yay me). however i already have a computer that i use, so i have no need for this computer. this computer wasn't without its problems though.
1. i had to purchase an adapter to retrofit my older style dell laptop battery cable. (not too expensive) ~= 10 bucks for a 2 pack via amz.
2. after that i had to find a spare cr2032 (easily found in my parts bin) and assemble a makeshift cmos battery thanks to some copper foil tape and some heat shrink tubing.
got the computer to boot, adjusted the cmos settings to my liking, securely erased the hard drive. now on to my current issue.
presently i'm dealing with a flashing amber light on the front of the computer. from what i've read this is related to an internal battery. and fortunately/unfortunately this computer was shipped with a 42Wh dell WDX0R lipo battery. i've managed to find the pin outs of the battery via another forum on the internet. however was unsuccessful in finding a JST connector that i could break out from the battery to wire up in a cp2112 adapter i have.
i need a way to interface with the battery so i can clear PF flag that i'm pretty sure is present, and thus why it's not working with the laptop. it's unfortunate as well because this battery looks brand new. as someone is who is on their 4th lipo battery for the macbook pro late 2013 i have a good eye for visually inspecting a lipo battery and knowing when it needs to be replaced.
i feel that the PF flag got enabled because this laptop sat for an extended period of time without being charged thus the battery went into an unrecoverable state if i had to guess.
either way i ordered a spare battery cable for this battery via ebay so i can hack at the current one that i have in an attempt to make a breakout connection to interface with.
curious if anyone knows a JST connector for this style of battery, or if one even exists. i used my calipers to measure the pitch of the pins, and they appear to be the same pitch as a JST PH which is a 2.0mm pitch, however my PH connectors were still too big to interface with this battery.
also curious to know if anybody here has successfully reset one of the batteries.
i'll try and update this thread if i can clear the PF flag, and pull some information from the BMS.
