    Non-existant? Thinkpad L470 corrupt bios

Hello friends, I have searched the internet to the last pages on google, and I can't seem to find any information regarding a BIOS recovery for my Thinkpad L470, I was unknowingly updating the BIOS via windows and shut down the laptop.

I need to know if there is a BIOS recovery method that I can use to restore this thing, when you press the power button its just a black screen, not even the backlight turns on.

This is pretty much all info I have regarding the laptop model/serial number etc...

I believe you will have to use an external programmer to remove the original bios chip -> reflash it and solder it back on to fix this case. Best to post the same question in the dedicated bios forum.

Could you confirm if something like this would do the trick?

      https://www.takealot.com/eeprom-flas...t/PLID90431302

will probably only use it once so I don't want to buy the wrong thing

Yes, I think this programmer is suitable but do wait on others to share their comments before proceeding. From a quick review of the schematics for the NM-B021 board, the flash memory chip that is of interest resides @ UC16M1. This appears to be the Winbond W25Q128FVSIQ device and is a QSPI (Quad mode SPI device). Respectively, you will need to either purchase a spare flash memory device that is of the same type or consider to reflash the one that is onboard. Personally suggest to buy a spare one to experiment with. They are not expensive from Digikey / Mouser. In my paid database service, found the flash memory chip dump for this model. This flash chip operates @ 3v3 volts so it should be straightforward to use the referenced programmer. Be sure to first check the programming software to confirm it can support this flash device - 99% sure it is possible. We recall writing our own programming s/w to operate in SPI and QSPI mode to benchmark against the Spansion brand a few years ago.

        See attached.

I checked stock on the mentioned retailers, there seems to be 0 stock on any of them. Best I could find was eBay at almost 4 times the price. I think it's best I just try flash the onboard chip, the laptop was forgotten about regardless and it fails, it wont be the end of the world, then I might purchase a new one.

HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-ec2523nd - Dimm2 slot disabled after corrupt bios repair? Advice requested.
              by Bloodhoundje
              Hi everyone,

I have been doing hardware repair as a hobby for some years now and recently decided to learn about repairing laptops as a fun challenge.

I managed to get my hands on a "HP Pavilion Gaming 15-ec2523nd" notebook that only shows a white power LED and doesnt respond to anything.

After initial testing I concluded the bios seems to be corrupted since all voltages are normal and there are no shorts. HP has a feature for a bios restore from USB with winkey+B for this model. This did not work.

I have desoldered the bios chip (GigaDevice...

              by TripTop
              Hi

i have dell latitude E7270 with following symptoms:
              - takes long time to restart.
              - sometimes powers on and then off
              - sometimes while working it just dies,

From googling online bios clean could possible resolve this?

i was able to save bios and was going to try bios clean myself but get an below error when i drop it in ME analyzer.(unsure whether this sometimes occurs or could be due to bad/corrupt bios)

As ME analyzer gave me an error i just decided to write bios with a cleaned bios from E7270 bios post.
              I reinstall...
