    Acer Aspire Switch 10

I just got Acer Aspire Switch 10 that is not turning on.
it's charging (i get orange light)
When i try to power it on there is nothing on the screen. I've checked and there looks no issue on motherboard.

i've also checked with thermal camera and there are 3 components getting hot immediatelly. 0 ohm resistor (1 marked on picture) and component (2 marked on picture) and then the big chip
    see video from thermal camera

This BD26XXX is a multi PMIC much like newer apple boards. Check resistance to GND on all coils around this PMIC. One of the rail is likely shorted.

yes it looks like this chip is bad... I've already ordered another to replace this one. When it arrives i will replace it and see if it will fix the problem.

Should remove the PMIC and check resistance to GND on each coils connected to this IC. If resistance is fine after de soldering the PMIC,then and only then solder a new IC-Else the new IC may also go bad.

Obe, out of curiosity, how did you get the metal shields of the mainboard? I am tinkering with this model also ATM

I think it was just clipped. You can use something sharp to lift one corner and the it will go easy

Thanks, much appreciated. I used the wrong charger, and mine doesn't turn on now. I followed your lead and got the IR camera out. The charging IC was on fire, which may be expected, but I removed it, and now the 12v from the adapter seems to be travelling to the charging IC area (before, it didn't). I'm not looking forward to reattaching a 25pin QFN, as I've never got it right :/

I just received new pmic but i found out that cpu is bad as there was short to ground near pmic when it was removed. After removing cpu short was gone. I've ordered new cpu from ali (4€) to see if this will fix it.

Sounds like progress and great deal on the CPU I've recently changed the charging ic and inductor just after the dc jack that literally split in half due to using the wrong charger. The device now powers on but shuts down with a blue led light on connecting the charger. IR cam shows another IC (BQ27531YZFR-G1 £1.62) linked to the charging IC the is on fire. At this rate not econmoic as already brought a keyboard and charger lol. Nevertheless, I can't help but want to see it through. Oh, also now have a black spot on the screen--rookie mistake removing IC without removing the board completely.

i found at home same chipset on other tablet ...
i've removed new cpu, reballed, installed in Acer and short was gone.

Now when i try to turn it on nothing happend.

When i connect power supply it takes 12V 0A there is red light when charger and battery connected. But it's taking 0A not responding to power button. With thermal camera i can see that BQ ic is getting hot and one other component.

ok there was one resistor not connected.
Now when i connect power supply it;s charging battery fine 1A

but still not turning on ...

I've found one shorted Cap that is caused by faulty TPS61030 (i've ordered one from china) i really want to fix this tablet

                        Hi,
I know this topic is over a year old but did you get any joy with this repair? Did replacing TSP61030 help?
I have a Switch 10 tablet which powers on and when charger is plugged in the charging bars move for about 10 seconds and then stops.
It doesn't take a charge. I cannot see any shorts or burnt components so need a bit of advice.
Is it ok to post on this or start a new topic?
                        Thanks.
