    Toshiba C660 LA-7202P water damage

Got this board today. Not a heavy amount of water damage and no corrosion but the damage ended up where it mattered.

It's covered TPS51125, the card reader chip, and the ISL chip which generates GFX/CPU vcore. All right next to the SATA connector.

Done a good clean up and done resistance tests. Surprisingly, almost all lines test OK with only +5VALW, +3VALW shorted. So I think I stand a chance of getting this board working (it's a very rare Socket G2 board for this model so I'd like to!

Lots of blackened caps around the TPS51125. Far as I can tell no voltage is generated past VIN.

    Schematic here:

How do I test TPS51125 and the ISL charger chip?

    Cheers!

PQ332 tests as shorted from pins 1/2/3 to pin 4. So either PQ332 is shorted or TPS51125 is. I'm guessing I need to replace TPS51125?

B+ line is okay, full 19V on that side.

Can I replace TPS51125A with TPS51125? I've found a VIN-side dead L450 board with exactly the same TPS51125 schematic, except it doesn't use the A version!

I'm guessing I need to remove 51125, test for the shorted caps, replace any, then replace 51125?

Replaced TPS51125, plugged in, heard a brief "BZZZ" sound. Still dead but now there's the sound of a relay clicking. And 5V rail is no longer shorted.

EDIT: Something on VIN is now shorted. I think this one is dead.

EDIT2: Plugged battery in and something on the board went up in plumes of smoke. Lol this one is screwed. TPS51125 isn't even anywhere near VIN so I have no idea what's caused this.

EDIT: I know what I did. soldered TPS51125 the wrong damn way! FFS! Make sure you get your positioning right when you solder folks!

I really wonder if you managed to work it or not

Agh I had a good chance too! Turned out when I checked the orientation I was looking at TPS51125 on a different schematic :/ Ah well, we live and learn.
