HP G71 Laptop Motherboard Keyboard Clip Help Needed

I have a HP G71-333NR laptop with a missing clip that holds the keyboard ribbon cable to the motherboard. On the 578703-001 motherboard beside the keyboard connector it says KB 26pin membrane.Does anyone know where I can get some of these?I could buy a bad motherboard, but with only one chance to remove, and install the clip,I don't like that option.I could try to shim, and tape it in place, but I don't know how well that would work.I see Digikey has some, but I don't know if any of them would work.Part number 503480-2600 looks like it might.Any help is greatly appreciated.Thank You very much!

Re: HP G71 Laptop Motherboard Keyboard Clip Help Needed

i change a keyboard connector but i had use like a wierd option .
we did not had a rework station only hot air station so that was not a option cuz it will melt the plastic so we use a oven and heated the board up like rly rly hot so we just lifted up the connector.
p.s. beware other parts will fall down :P only use bad boards in oven :O
Just cook it! It's already broken.

Guide to transplant MEC1503 EC chip and EEPROM reprogamming for T14s gen 2 and X13 gen 2
      by acedogblast
This is a guide that I am writing for helping others to replace their MEC1503 EC chip if it breaks (or to get around an inconvenient prompt to the BIOS). This forum has been extremely helpful to me so I would like to contribute to help others. I will tell you right now that this task is very difficult to do. You MUST have experience and tools to do precision micro-soldering, BGA reballing, trace repair, and general laptop repair skills.

There are some specialty tools needed to do this task. The replacement MEC1503 chips can be acquired from Aliexpress. Do not buy the bare chips as...

      Laptop external keyboard?
      by Hondaman
Can I use an external keyboard with a modern (as of this post) laptop from, say, Dell?

I am worried about durability because I am a cheap, frugal person. I suspect an external keyboard would extend the life of the laptop. I have always been a desktop person, since my AMD 386DX-40, and I really don't know about laptops (though the current Dell products look like they are fanless, which eliminates a big failure point).

(Also I prefer the "clicking" "Unicomp" keyboard, which is still made an hour or two away from me in Lexington KY, using the same equipment...

Friend messed up my laptop motherboard while working on my bench
      by Geeker007
      Hi All,

So my friend was visiting and he wanted to use my solder bench to solder on some WLED circuit board. My laptop was open on the side for RAM upgrade. I know my mistake.

So while soldering he had too much solder on the soldering iron tip and he just shook off the soldering iron on the table itself to remove extra solder on the soldering tip and it landed on the motherboard of laptop. He then out of fear tried to remove it using solder wick and did more damage by removing some components as well. So here I am with weird situation.

      I have not tried putting...
