it turns off while going to windows some time at startup but if i remain in bios setup it remain on.................any body done this before

First thing to do is re-install windows. Also try to reset or flash your BIOS and reseat all the components like optical drive, memory, HDD, CPU, etc... Also, might be an overheating issue?I can put text here?! -

you need change or check hdd, ram, clean the termal paste and put a brand new, does it shutdown when its not in case?(motherboard out)
you need to do some research first , adapter ok? pin adapter? bad solder on the board?

disconnect the power button from case , and power up the mobo alone on the table without the case maybe when you reflow you forgot to putt the protection sticker on the mobo and it short the mainboard (my xp with hp dv9000 and dv6000; i hate them )
