Should i buy it or not ?

Hi, i could get a hp 615 for 30€. It has some missing parts that i can replace, but the thing is that the owner said it will run for ~5 minutes and then turn off. And when turned on again, it will run for even less. So, the hotter it is, the less it will run. Could it be an overheating issue? So just clean it up and repasre and done? Or could it be another issue? I want to buy a laptop for cheap that has some really stupid but easily fixable problem (i want a working laptop for cheap)

Sounds like the cooling fan vents are blocked. When that happens the cpu or gpu gets too hot and that will cause the laptop to shuts off. I would buy. If I buy I would:
    1. Clean Air Vent
    2. Apply Thermal Compound

    Best of luck.

Older, hotter ran laptops breaking tabs related? (XPS 15 P31F)
          by Uranium-235
o, customer gave me this, keyboard had issues with keys and cleaning them did not seem to fix them, so replaced keyboard

On reassembly, MHF4 connectors on wifi antenna were warped, bent up wifi card connectors (didn't see until did a high magnification on them)

Ordered new a antenna, wifi card. Went to replace it and all the tabs where the screen cable/antenna holder broke when I was trying ti take it apart (non marring pry tool)

I noticed the keyboard had a copper sheet. Further looking into this, it's because how hot this thing ran (nvidia gpu and...

cpu getting hotter as it gets older...
          by eccerr0r
Curious if anyone has seen this behavior or not, or could it be simply explained by a very obvious reason...

... is it common for a cpu at the same clock rate and voltage to get hotter (perhaps, draw more current) as it gets older?

The obvious reason... fan clogging up with dust or heatsink compound drying up, of course. Or perhaps it's possible for the heatsink to not be as effective as before, should heatsinks' fins be cleaned with more than just compressed air/vacuum? Perhaps dunked into a ultrasonic bath? Then perhaps the heatsink should be replaced (with like, since...

Acer nitro V15 ANV15-41-R2MS over overheating
          by Wang Tingting
I have a Acer nitro V15 ANV15-41-R2MS, can boot into bios, the temperature in bios show as close to 80C(going up in 1 mins), Vcore is about 1.02v, initial boot, one buck regulator and coil are much hotter than other,
then all of them become hotter, same for CPU. The heatsink and paste look good, the fan run loudly.

I am new in laptop repairing, is it normal as I heard CPU phase-shedding, so when starting boot, there maybe only one buck regulator providing power.
If that’s normal, then is it possible CPU internal short. All resistance from coil to ground looks normal,...

          Samsung NP270E5E BA41-02243A HST Boardview
          by Vice01234
Hello, im triyng to search an Boardview of my Samsung NP270E5E. This haves an NVIDIA gpu (GeForce 710M) and i3-3120M. The PCH gets hotter after try to start, he takes 10 seconds to send the IO pulse to start the motherboard. I see all the voltages (5v, 3.3v, 1.5v, 1.1v others) and dont POST after start the motherboard and the CPU dont gets hotter. I used my laptop 11 days followed whiout shut down, the GPU uses an OC (776Mhz to 961Mhz and memory 900Mhz to 1298Mhz). My model of motherboard are BA41-02243A HST (are Lampard-INT 1.0, not amd). I cant found an BoardView in the forum. Someone can help...

          Macbook Pro 2018 dead with 5V 0A
          by Jiayi
Hi everyone, this is my first time trying to repair my 15" MBP 2018 A1990. I've been watching logic board repair videos for a long time so I wanted to experiment with reviving my own MBP, board number 820-01814.

This is all the information I gathered so far:

          - All USB-C ports are dead with 5V 0A, none of them loops

          - Weird fact: when charger is connected to the port corresponding to UB400 and I try to measure the volts at CB401, the charger is restarted. It happens only with that port and UB400. CB401 is not shorted. I don't know enough to explain this....
