Toshiba Satellite A300 freezes nec toking

    Hello,
My laptop freezes when its charging (working well on battery), with distorted image of various colors on screen.
I opened it and found a nec toking cap, could be the nec toking the problem for not working well ? or its the gfx card ? Ati 3400.
    Also reboots it self :\
Ill post some pics as soon as it freezes again.

    Thx
    and sorry for my english.

there is a very very long thread already made about this problem, you will need to replace the tokin chip or modify it with tantalum smd capacitors...

Thank you for fast answer, i saw the nec toking thread, i only want to be sure.
I think i would replace the nec tokin for 4x 330uf cap, with i found for 15€ a pack of 4.

I have just done the same exact replacement today and it works, so go ahead and order those caps. Btw, i recommend just breaking and scraping off the Tokin cap with a blade, instead of attempting to remove it with hot air, as you may damage the solder balls under the CPU socket if you heat it up too much.

^This. Pliers and a thin needle to remove the bottom-most layer is all you need. Much easier

I've done a number of these and the best tool I've found to remove the old Nec Tokin cap is a good nail clipper! it can grab at the bottom layer and rip it up quite easily. When you get used to it, it's very quick and you won't even need a blade to clean it up before soldering. I always scrape it a bit with the end of a small flat blade screwdriver before soldering the new caps in.
You get a lot of leverage power, precision and control with the nail clipper.

It is a type of capacitor that used to filter low voltage, high current rails like Vcore. https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=8991
It gradually fails causing random crashes.
