I got 2 of those in the last 6 months. Both of them had the same problem: the graphic chip.

I did the reflow-reballing and worked again.

Hi. I fix this with reflow grapfic chip.

Edit: Now after 2 days this laptop still work, but with very slow boot proces, it take a little over 1 minute from push power button to show HP logo screen.

Maybe I must do proper reball with leaded sodler balls.

Clean the RAM memories with a white eraser.
Check the hdd for bad sectors. (You can use Hiren's boot CD).

Hi. Do you mean Pencil Eraser rubber ?

I was wrong I use stopwatch and take 25 second, for first boot, if I reboot with ctrl-alt-del it take 5-10 second. Is that normal ?

Yes, I mean a pencil eraser but it MUST be a white one, not a red/blue one. Take a look at the attached file.

I guess it could be "normal" since the hdd is not stopped at all. Usually, when the initial screen takes too much to load is because of RAM or HDD failure. In third place, a bootable CD/DVD.

I clean ram contacts, and no changes. Maybe is problem because HDD is not present, and board search for it. (I buy laptop without HDD)

Hey everybody, got a strange one here.

The TV will display the Home Screen, Menus, Netflix Home Screen, YouTube home screen with preview tiles, etc, without issue. As soon as I try to play video (streaming or from any of the HDMI inputs), all I get is audio and and blank screen. It's like the video is not being processed. So I ordered a replacement main board. I can now play video from streaming sources but the video from HDMI sources is all green (kinda like photo negatives but all green) and the audio does not work. Is it possible the main board I ordered is also failing?? I can't...

                  hi,
this laptop works but temperature rise too much. I dismounted mb and cleaned well. There was a lot of dust inside.
I think that there is a graphic chipset issue because when I power the machine I get this error:
"the detected discrete gpu VBIOS is not meant for this system"
This make me think that maybe the gpu VBIOS has to be re programmed.
BTW someone already worked on this mainboard. Near graphic board there is Winbond flash memory that I think its stored the VBIOS.
I attach some pictures and one of message error I get when I power on the ...

I need help with my friend Sony GDM-FW900 24” CRT
                  by matthewmcconaughey
Hello, Badcaps is my last resort. I am the first owner of the monitor. I reached almost every repair store in my area, but no one even wanted to hear about troubleshooting an old CRT monitor. At this point, I have been trying to figure it out by myself, but I have no idea where to start or look for.

I wish to know how to think and locate a failing component. I will put all my efforts to learn and contribute.
                  1. It started with a bright and greenish picture upon starting a cold monitor.
                  2. About 2 years ago, only on the cold boot, the screen started to occasionally flash with
