    Mercury Green550 Dead

    Hi dear all,

    I have Mercury Green550 Laptop dead. When it is working i have serviced it. because of Ants . When after service, i have plug the laptop keyboard to the main board. That laptop is pluged to power adapter and battery is charging. After pluging the keyboard i have turn on the laptop. It is power on but only for 3-4 seconds. after that it gos off. Now it is not powering on and LED's are still off. Please tell me what i have to do. Please.....

          I think he meant the following:

          He took his laptop apart because ANTS, as in real live insects, got into it. Now when he put it back together it doesn't work anymore.

          Check all the ribbon cables, make sure you haven't broken any of them. If the cables are okay and there seems to be nothing else wrong with it i'd just get another laptop, that one is too old to be worth any time-consuming repair.

              firstly.. what the hell rode them into naming a Pentium 4 notebook as "green" !?

              secondly, it's most likely a rebadged ECS Notebook, ie: garbage to begin with.

              i keep stumbling over dead ECS notebooks on ebay a lot.. and the G550/Green 550 is one of the most common models. that's why i immediately thought about comparing this. sure enough.. looks like a simple rebadge..

                  ECS OEM'd a lot of stuff for Mercury. I had a Mercury motherboard a while back, and sure enough, it quickly traced down to ECS. The board was half-decent tho, but it was back in the Socket A days.

                      Hi, I disassemble my laptop to replace the speakers, to access them, you have to remove everything including the heat sink and fan, unscrew the motherboard, lift it up a bit to access the speaker wire.
                      that was not the first time I dissasemble it, i did replace the same speaker a few year ago and I repaste it last year, so I had nothing to worry about. but when I put everything back together, its completely dead.

                      After a bit of investigating, i found one pin of the status led ribbon cable that was unglued from the cable and bend touching another pin, I bend it back at his place...
