    Look at several because they aren't all the same.
    Some are just taped of a +5v rail with a fuse and an EMI filter.
    Others have an actual IC. [Or the power management is incorporated into the USB IC.]

        LOL forgot it was a laptop. my friend has to do that on his desktop he kept complaining his computer would freeze or the hdd would not work.

          i have seeen same problem on my desktop mobo.

          reason is power supply... i changed it. problem was solved.
