    Bucky/BenSolo WHL/CNL 17859-1 Need help finding 3.3v

    Bucky/BenSolo WHL/CNL 17859-1

The symptom is no current draw with power connected.

The board has 19v and 5v S5 rails up but no 3.3v. Please tell me if there's an easier way, but my method of checking if 3.3vS5 is up, is to check voltage at pin 8 of the BIOS chip. I am looking at the schematic and see pin 8 of the BIOS chip is 3D3V_SPIVCC but I'm having trouble tracing in the schematic WHERE 3D3V_SPIVCC comes from.

MOD Edit: Link to Schematic -> https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=91566

The schematic does not open in my adobe reader. It shows an error exists on this pdf.

      Opens in FoxitPDF reader.

BIOS voltage doesn't come up usually till after the EC powers the system on so forget that. You should get your 3V LDO (3D3V_AUX_S5) for the EC, quickest way is to check it at the power button itself. Power up sequence is on pg 102.

It opens ok with SumatraPDF. Adobe reader is overbloated crap.Stopped using it years ago as it had javascript enabled by default.

I didn't get it open in adobe either, I was looking at it in Chrome, which displays it perfectly.

Man, i struggle so bad with this, but I'm learning right now, so that's a plus. This machine has the power button built into the keyboard. So, I went into the schematic and found what I think I was looking for, and had 3.3v (see attach). I didn't actually see the switch on the schematic, so I started further upstream.

Why not check here? You measure if you have 3V, and pulled down to 0V when power button pressed. Keyboard power buttons are a common point of failure on Asus/Acer, don't know about Dell. If it gets pulled to 0V, then you move to your EC and see if it is moving to the next part of the power sequence.

Thank you for your reply I did check where you mentioned and it is being pulled to 0v so I will, as you suggest move on to the EC. I'll be back with questions, I'm sure of it!

Well that didn't take me long to get stuck haha. As stated, powerbutton draws down to zero. If I'm reading the powerup sequence correctly, I should see something out of GPIO20 to the CPU? So I don't have to bother you a bunch, can you please give me a play-by-play for the next few checks? I'll reference what you say, and the schematic, and that way I can learn for next time hopefully have an easier time.
