    Macbook Pro - stuck in 5V after replacing CD3217

    HI all,

    new member here, so hi to the community.
    I have a problem with a MacBook pro 13", A2251, board 820-01949, that is nagging me.
    The macbook had liquid spill and didn't work at all when i received it.
    I was able to get it back working by replacing a shorted cpu mosfet and a resistor on that line.
    It worked good after that with one fault: 3 usb ports worked as expected, one port didn't work at all, no voltage draw, nothing.
    The USB-on-board connector and the small usb-board of that port where both defective, so I replaced the on-board connector and used a new usb-board.
    Result was the same, 3 working ports, one completely dead.
    So I tried the next thing that came to mind, replaced the CD3217B12 connected to the faulty port, U3100_W in my case.
    Unfortunately, since then, the board doesn't work at all.
    The 3 usb-ports that worked before only draw 5V and the port that was dead before is still completely dead.
    I replaced CD3217 2 more times, with chips from different sellers, but still the same.
    I checked the resistors/capacitors around the area but couldn't find a suspicious reading.
    I thought about changing ISL9240 but the area looks clean with no obvious defects.
    Does anyone here has an idea where i should look at or what might be the problem?

    on these boards, when replacing cd3217, you need to remove another chip from exactly the same board 820-01949-A, cd3217 from other macbook models will not work

      And why is that? the GPIO are programables by apple?

        the GPIO are programables by apple?
        Customized versions of the power delivery controller created for Apple by Texas Instruments. Customization can be pinout / firmware, etc. Suggest to follow the guidelines the research conducted by other techs else the repair will fail.
