    I2C communication !

    Hello,

I would like to know on average how many chips in a laptop uses the I2C protocol to communicate and which one.

I know the battery, BQ24735 and the ITE uses SDA and SCL but is there other chip that do ?

And the SDA, SCL pins always needs to be pullup to 3.3V, no matter what if the laptop turns on or not, right ?

    Thanks !

    Re: I2C communication !

No firm answer and will vary with the board design.

I2C and smbus are similar. Both are open-drain pins so the pull-up voltage can also vary to suit. For example, can be 5v, 1v8, etc.

There are many more, most used
          RAM module for SPD
          Internal display for EDID
External display (VGA,HDMI) also for EDID
          Also some others like
          some axis accelerators,others sensors,battery management,backlight control,
