I have a laptop motherboard in which the S5 power line is shorted to ground. The output generated is going through a power jumper pad. How do I isolate the generation point and the rest of the circuit? Do I need to cut the line or is there any other way?

Re: Laptop motherboard short, how to isolate
With PJP5 is probably this area meant. And as you notice it is physically not present on your board. The "*" in the description also indicates it is not present. The test point has likely nothing to do with the +5VS. You have to lift the related coil instead, so you can at least confirm whether the short is on buck converter or on the load side -

by keldeoI've purchased this weird (and might add appears to have had a fairly rough life) laptop a while ago for $1 at a yard sale. It powered up one time, (saw a POST screen!) Then, never powered again. I've since thrown it in some dark corner, BUT, I've decided to look at it again. First, this seems like a very obscure laptop, mine just has the name "BIT" on it and nothing else. Very similar (same?) can be seen here https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?t=54655.
At first, I had gotten the weird mini display on the lower part of the laptop to display a few icons, but if I attempted...01-02-2025, 03:22 AM -
by Geeker007Hi All,
So my friend was visiting and he wanted to use my solder bench to solder on some WLED circuit board. My laptop was open on the side for RAM upgrade. I know my mistake.
So while soldering he had too much solder on the soldering iron tip and he just shook off the soldering iron on the table itself to remove extra solder on the soldering tip and it landed on the motherboard of laptop. He then out of fear tried to remove it using solder wick and did more damage by removing some components as well. So here I am with weird situation.

Hello everyone,
I'm trying to repair my old Acer Nitro 5 (AN517-54-55T5). I've already bought a new laptop, so this is more of a learning project. For the experience, with no high expectations of success.

CPU: Intel Core i5-11400H
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650
Motherboard: GH51G LA-L181P Rev:1c
The symptom:
When pressing the power button, the power LED lights up for about 5 seconds and then turns off. Initially, the issue was intermittent: sometimes...05-26-2025, 10:49 AM -

I was trying to fix my old laptop that has stopped displaying image a long time ago. It boots up, lights light up, fan spins but no image. Conned it to TV by HDMI cable, but it was unsuccessful. Components look intact, no water damage/corrosion on the board.
I don't really value this laptop too much, so I wanted to ask anyone for a schematic/boardview file or anything that describes motherboard in a simillar faison. I want to experience a challenge of figuring...-
