    Kenwood TS830s

This hybrid radio came in for what is a typical repair for these venerable vintage sets, band-changer control inter-coupler had parted company and left the building. I was going to machine a replacement but I found a supplier for suitable substitutes, anyways further inspection of the RF cage found a cracked snubber capacitor (10nf) a good inch in diameter. So I ordered replacements rated for 2KV the high voltage in this area is around 800 volts, seemed a reasonable compromise, other than the bad solder joints on the valve bases the repair was progressing nicely.

Well when the parts arrived they were like about a 1/4 inch in diameter, so I re ordered 3kv 10nf parts, when these turned up they are still substantially smaller than the original part. I will upload size comparison pictures later. The original part is 20 mm dia and the replacement parts are 10mm dia.

that's how it goes... same thing with electrolytic capacitors. stuff is getting smaller every year. Kenwoods are really known for that brown goo that gets conductive and corrosive over time. Scrape and clean as soon as you see it.

Well this set seemingly is one of Kenwood's cleaner examples in terms of hot snot and brown goo not otherwise specified, with regards to the ceramic anti parasitic cap well looking through the suppliers I use it seems 10mm dia is about average for this value and rating. I did look for a 5kv alternative but was not able to source one, and while i appreciate 800 volts is not particularly high the part seemed a little on the small side.

Well the RF section is back together, the coupling made good, valves tested and the bases reworked, tuned up and tested into a 50 ohm (100watt, 10db) pass-through attenuator to a RF power meter The set is producing a good 100 watts CW, this is about right for this vintage. If anyone is particularly interested I might post some general pics before closing up the set

Samsung UN65JU67ODFXZA Version TD01 Schematic and Parts List
        by Mark D
The TV is a Samsung UN65JU67ODFXZA Version TD01. I replaced the power source board and the TV is now working, but I decided to try and troubleshoot the old board to fix at the component level. Trying to get a schematic and a parts list has proven to be an issue. Trying on my own, I can't tell you how many times my Norton security has flagged sites as "malicious". I ordered a service manual from ServiceManuals.net, paid $16.99 and got 66 pages of everything BUT schematics and component parts list! Can anyone steer me in the right direction? Some of the surface mounted component parts...

The Overseas Only Kenwood Model KR 790
        by Mark R
I am Repairing this unit. It had many problems. One major one was the power transformer being about 4-5 volts low on the main B+ line which called for 66.5 Vols after the Main Filter caps but only showing about 62 Volts. Caps and the 5 amp Diode bridge were replaced which helped slightly.

The other strange problem was the small secondary winding from the PT which supplies 18 Volts AC to the "FM FLUORESCENT DISPLAY" circuit, and the small winding that supplies 8 Volts AC to the push button grain of wheat lamps. Those voltages were down from 18 Volts to 16 volts. Which was...

        SVOD4 PCB pictures + parts
        by 2elw
Hey, I find it very absurd that the SVOD4 costs so much and has zero documentation. I had no other choice than to buy it to unlock ECs, if there was any documentation or firmware avalible I could've made it or something simmilar. Anyways here are some of the most important parts:

STM32H723VGT6 MCU - It's a microcontroller by STMicroelectronics and its the whole brain of the SVOD4. It has flash memory for the firmware which can be updated by the SVOD4 program. Its also powered by the AMS117 which converts 5v into 3.3V. 7€ on AliExpress.

        GW1N-UV9UG169C6/I5 FPGA - Its a...

        Cyberpower 1500AVR UPS repair
        by quickname
I'd like to start out by thanking this forum for providing the info to be able to repair my 15 year old CP1500AVRLCD UPS. Here is all the info I gathered during my trouble-shooting and re-capping.

Like clockwork, I've had to replace the SLA batteries every 4 years. It was about that time and the UPS was acting like it needed new batteries... randomly shutting off with AC present, not being able to charge fully, and poor runtime when AC was removed. So, I replaced the batteries but noticed that it was not charging properly.

I decided to verify that the batteries were...

What parts can be salvaged from a plasma with a damaged display panel?
        by SurrealMustard
I recently found myself the proud owner of a later-model Samsung plasma (the PN59D7000 for those keeping score at home) whose panel was, unfortunately, damaged in transport. I'm now preparing to part it out, but am curious as to whether or not any damage would have come to any of the components by attempting to power it up with the panel being broken. I read in one Avsforum thread (for whatever that's worth 😂) that the "scan driver boards" (by which I assume he means buffer boards) could be impacted by doing so. Is that actually the case? If so, since I don't intend on selling bad...
