I've recapped another Sega Mega Drive using exclusively Rubycon ML capacitors, I've tested it during +4 hours and it works like a charm.

By the way I took note of the original capacitors found on different european Sega Mega Drive: Nichicon VX(M) and Rubycon CE W.

      Diagnosing Sega CD 2
      by Aimbit
      Hey all,

Hopefully someone here knows about “vintage” game systems.

I have a Sega CD and it runs perfectly fine except for two specific things I've seen so far.

      1. The boot menu music is distorted, that is the jingle that plays on the loading screen with no disc inserted. It seems that is it specifically the bass line of the jingle. It is fully distorted/scratchy sounding.

      2. I've only come across this issue in Spider-Man so far. During any cutscene when dialogue is playing, the audio will intermittently skip, the same way every time....

Infamous Rubycon MFZ... Current recommended replacements???
      by bjs59
What we have here today is an Intel DG33FB motherboard, circa 2007... I need to replace some of the caps on this board... From what I have found, one of these caps was sort of well known here back in the day as they were used in XBoxes and XBox 360s as well....They are the Rubycon MFZ series, in particular the 6.3 v 3300uf 10mm X 20mm... I have found a seller on Amazon, The Capacitor Store, that has them listed but I have a hard time believing these are genuine pieces... The original recommendation was to replace any bad ones with Nichicon HZ series since the Rubycon MFZ's were a custom product,...

How to trick notebook into thinking internal panel is connected?
      by joshAU
      Hi all.
I have an asus F505DV that has a smashed screen, broken hinges, bezel and top cover.
The customer cannot afford to repair it, so they wanted me to remove the top of the unit and will just use the base as a desktop and plug into a monitor via HDMI.

However, for some reason, with this model, it REFUSES to display on the external monitor unless there is also an internal LCD.
If there is a internal screen, then the external displays fine.

This is running the latest BIOS.

I have set the display properties in windows 10 using...

Failed UCC and Rubycon replacement on a Dell XPS410, equivalent?
      by DXseekerMO
Hello, I'm working on an old Dell XPS410 with burst capacitors. I'm trying to source either an equivalent replacement, or a replacement that will work. It's been suggested to me to use Poly caps as a replacement, but I have no idea what to order or what will work.

If anyone has a link to where I can buy what I need that would be even better.

These are the caps that have burst:

      Board location: C8BV, C26BV, C43BV
      Brand: United Chemi Con
      Series: KZG
      Size: 10mm dia X 25mm height
      Impedance: (ohms max/20c, 100kHz) .012
      Ripple: 2800...

Replacing Rubycon CE W with Rubycon YXF
      by Y. Signal
Hello. I'm looking for the best modern long-life replacement for Rubycon CE W capacitors found in some old consoles and computers (Sega Genesis/Mega Drive and ZX Spectrum). In these machines I've also found (and replaced) Nichicon VX(M), TK C-8Z1 and FDS K002.

I've used Panasonic FR (and Rubycon YXJ for the 1 uF 50V) but the Sega Mega Drive became unstable after one hour of use, so I switched to Panasonic FC / Rubycon ML and it works apparently fine. I need more capacitors, so I'm planning to order Rubycon YXF instead of ML this time, is it a good idea?

      ML does not especify...
