In order for voltage to appear at the output (pin 6) of this LDO, the controller must send a command (voltage) to turn it on, this is to the 3-pin EN (turn on).

Thank you for confirming. Could it be that the MAIN motherboard should be supplying another voltage, other than the 12v? I checked everywhere else on the disk drive board and all I can find is the same 12v at its source

Because this is a diode mode measurement, and not voltage measurement

Sorry for the double post, but I'd like to add that the shorted component that I removed was there (see photo). Could it be the reason it is not working? I thought it was only a capacitor and that it could work without replacing it. Can anyone confirm the component that was in this location?

So where are these 12v?, which are supplied if there is no power supplied to the input, and accordingly there will be nothing at the output.
    Is there some tension here?

Check diode readings on this component, and come back to us. I will check a working one

are you actually getting 5v and 12v going in?

Rather, your pinout, look here, maybe you will find yours, look for the markings (A8-xxx) and the body.
    Or do you have (A8=xxx)?

Remove the chip and look where the 4 pin (VIN) goes.

Yes, and the input voltage exceeds (your input is 12V), but it looks like it's not.

Thank you. Based on the data sheet you provided, it implies that there's 12v on the EN pin only. This seems strange. Also, the ground doesn't seem to be at the same place on the board vs the data sheet. I'll have to investigate further

edit: ground is at the right place

    PS5 disk drive not working

    Hello,

I am trying to diagnose a PS5's disk drive that is not working. At first, I found a shorted capacitor. However, after removing it, I cannot find any other short but it still is non working. I measured the voltage at this place (see photo) but there's only 12.11v at one pin. Other pins all show varying voltage between 0 and 50mV. (Constantly changing)

    Any idea?
Working...
