PS5 disk drive not working

Pretty sure there should be 5v and 12v supplied to the disc drive daughter board.

In order for voltage to appear at the output (pin 6) of this LDO, the controller must send a command (voltage) to turn it on, this is to the 3-pin EN (turn on).

Diode reading looks good compared to mine. The component you're missing is indeed a capacitor, and shouldn't be necessary for testing

Because this is a diode mode measurement, and not voltage measurement

Sorry for the double post, but I'd like to add that the shorted component that I removed was there (see photo). Could it be the reason it is not working? I thought it was only a capacitor and that it could work without replacing it. Can anyone confirm the component that was in this location?

So where are these 12v?, which are supplied if there is no power supplied to the input, and accordingly there will be nothing at the output.

Rather, your pinout, look here, maybe you will find yours, look for the markings (A8-xxx) and the body.
Or do you have (A8=xxx)?

Remove the chip and look where the 4 pin (VIN) goes.

Yes, and the input voltage exceeds (your input is 12V), but it looks like it's not.

Thank you. Based on the data sheet you provided, it implies that there's 12v on the EN pin only. This seems strange. Also, the ground doesn't seem to be at the same place on the board vs the data sheet. I'll have to investigate further
