Request HP Proliant Microserver Gen 8 (J06) BIOS dump to restore system firmware

    Hi all,

This is my first post here (I am very new to forums!) and I hope someone can help. I am looking for a full dump of the BIOS of a HP Proliant Microserver Gen 8 so that I can get this mini server running again. (BIOS version J06 2019-04-04, chip 25Q064A). I think my board was partially bricked after a failed BIOS update.

I got it second hand in this state and all the normal attempts at bios restoration have not worked. I have even desoldered the chip and tried to load the actual BIOS from HP, but it is missing some parts needed to boot the system.

    I have:
    • My board's original backup dump (which has MY ME firmware, serial#, MACs)
    • The J06 BIOS payload (.684) file

    What I need:
    • A full 8 MB SPI dump from a working Gen8 (same board revision) that includes a valid Intel Flash Descriptor, ME firmware, and backup BIOS region.

Once I get a working dump, my plan is:
    1. Merge my board-specific data (serial, UUID, MACs) into the donor dump.
    2. Inject the latest J06 BIOS payload into the BIOS region.
    3. Flash the merged image using a CH341A programmer.

If you have a working dump or can share a pre-flashed 25Q064A chip, I'd really appreciate it.

    Thank you!

Hi danito, thanks for replying. The system won't let me attach the file. Maybe because I'm new here? The board is stamped with HP logo and the only numbers are on a sticker:
      PN: 715062-001
      CT: PDNVDB1WG5L05B
      SP#: 724495-001
      REV B1

Is that what you need? I hope it helps!

      Regards, Ahari

I hope this works for my BIOS file that I took off the chip before I did anything:

Thanks SMDFlea! Do I need to just zip everything in future? Or did you just fix it for me? 😎

I thought the serial number was one of those on the sticker. Do you mean the serial number of the box? If so, it is: CZ134499EJ

I hope that is what you need?

Okay, I think I see the problem. This is a microserver and the support page is on the HP Enterprise webite at support.hpe.com. The PID no is 712317-421 and the link: https://support.hpe.com/connect/s/se...erOfResults=25 will give you the search for this machine. The software updates are here: https://support.hpe.com/connect/s/pr...oftware&cep=on

I hope this helps. Thank you for your efforts.

I have tried flashing all the BIOS available at the HP site, but have only had success in updating the iLO firmware. With the help of ChatGPT, I have tried all the methods for flashing the BIOS: USB stick, iLO firmware update, Cold boot method (holding the power button with the usb stick in specific port) with no luck. I have tried using dip switch 6. 1&6 as well as 1,5 &6 while trying to flash. I have also desoldered the chip and soldered it onto the programmer, which is where I got the BIOS bin file from. I have done the desoldering twice with different firmware. Nothing. ChatGPT says my BIOS is missing something that can only be replaced by getting hold of a full BIOS dump, which lead me here asking for help.

I really hope you experts can help me get this going...

I have since taken the board off it's mounts and found this printed on the back: a11sbt2 mb 11074-1 48 5p601 011 inside a big white square. Does that help?

I have also confirmed the PCH chip to be a BD82C204 SLJ4H.

                        by macabook
                        Hello everyone,

I’m currently working on a dead MSI GP75 Leopard (MS-17E71) motherboard (i7 CPU, NVIDIA GPU) with a no display/no backlight issue initially. After extensive investigation, I’m at a critical stage involving EC firmware, BIOS/ME region interaction, and possible deep corruption. I'm seeking advanced insight from anyone with experience in EC/BIOS sync issues or PCH-level behavior. Here’s a full breakdown:
                        🧩 Initial Issue
                        • Board powers on (fans spin, keyboard lights up and can be adjusted, caps lock led lights), but no display or backlight
                        • External display (HDMI) shows
                        ...

                        by DynaxSC
Hi, I have an MSI PRO B660M-G DDR4 board with damaged BIOS and i need a bios dump from a real board, along with MAC, UUID and Serial Number info (eg. a BIOS screenshot and pictures from the board stickers).

I need to reconstruct the bios on my board, based on another bios image form a real board - meaning a bios image containing MAC address, UUID and Serial number. A stock BIOS is not suffiecient, as it is impossible to discover where the MAC, UUID and SerialNumber are stored. Tried with a similar board, but there are too much differences, and the stock BIOS is missing a lot of...
