Did you look on the Gigabyte support website. https://www.gigabyte.com/uk/Motherbo...upport-dl-bios

The bios will have an .F2 or .F1 file extension, just rename it to .bin ,or .rom

And does this method work? I have read that this is not the way. that the bios is necessary in .bin format

Yes it does work ,it is a binary file, just rename it and you`re good to go ahead and flash it with your programmer
