Re: replacing capacitors on asus striker extreme motherboard

I contacted ASUS last week regarding RMA of my P5N-E SLI - they told me to go back to my reseller. That was impossible since I was given the board by a friend who'd blown a mosfet in the CPU section (and the processor with it). I fixed it myself.

I Googled your CPU INIT issue and found this contact information:

      Charlie Payne
      ASUS UK
      Focus 31
      West wing 1st fLOOR
      Cleveland Road
      Hemel Hempstaed
      Hertfordshire
      HP2 7BW

      warranty@asustek.co.uk

      Support Line number - 01442 202730
      Tech Support - 01442 202716

You can also send your Motherboards back for RMA via a company that ASUS use, and will probable give you the details of:

      Creative Computing
      1429 - 1437 Pollokshaws Road
      Shawlands
      Glasgow
      G41 3RQ

      Switchboard - 0141 6497577

Re: replacing capacitors on asus striker extreme motherboard

ASUS Manufacturer's Warranty is a limited manufacturer's warranty. All ASUS motherboards purchased after November 1st, 1999 will carry a 3 year warranty service term. Warranty is based upon manufacturing date (serial number printed on actual product).

Warranty service will include repair or warranty-replacement on the product when issued with an RMA # (return material authorization). Approximate repair process is 10 business days, excluding weekends, holidays, and shipping time.

                      Phone: 812-282-ASUS(2787) - option 2; option 2
                      Fax: 510-608-4511

This is for North America, I understand you are in the UK but if you know someone you trust in North America and your board is still under warranty you can still do a RMA as long as they are return shipping the replacement to North America.

Step #1 Look at serial #, is it over 3 years old?
Step #2 Make a friend in North America. :P
Step #3 Call the number and RMA the board mail it in and have the replacement shipped to someone in North America.
Step #4 Have the friend send you the replacement board.

ASUS and XFX are really good about forgiving stuff like where its be shipped from, (yes you moved to the UK last year), as long as they are sending the replacement to North America they dont care. XFX with the double lifetime warranty on video cards and ASUS motherboards are all I have used for the past 20 years.

XFX, I'm not impressed with them either.
I have an 8800GTS, which has a known manufacturing flaw, but I forgot to apply for the lifetime warranty. They won't help me.
