help me fix RX570

Hi

I have a Powercolor RX570 4GB "red dragon" that is not being detected.

Findings:

• All voltages are present
• GPU is getting warm
• changing to 2nd BIOS does not change anything. I also tried several other BIOS files. Both BIOS chips are in working condition.
• No missing components. Because the card is not detected, I doublechecked the capacitors on the PCI-E lanes, no problems found

What else can I check before I bake the GPU ? I don't have the tools to reball the chip properly.

Check all the tiny capacitors just above the PCIe connector - they could be on both sides of the board. Are any broken or missing?

I have a similar issue to you but my card is a ASUS ROG STRIX 4GB model, its got all power and i managed to flashed bios to one that actually starts up but goes black when the drivers are loaded. thats as far as i was able to go with it.

Other BIOSes ive tried just dont start up or crash as soon as it hits windows. TDR VIDEO bsods.

With HWinfo you can see if there are VRAM errors in your GPU.

If there are errors check for some faulty circuit lines from vram chips to gpu.
Sometimes people use a screwdriver to disassemble the heatsink and you end scratching the pcb.

But VRAM errors could be also, a defective/unsoldered memory chip.

Not sure why I did not check earlier, but I put my oscilloscope to work. To find out 2 of the 6 (?) phases don't pulse !
Sure enough, the accompanying drivers show funny resistance readings, well at least way off the other 4 drivers. So I know what to replace...

Made me think (yeah, occasionally that happens): Nvidia cards have no trouble booting with missing phases (as long as there's no other problem like a short). In fact I have a GTX970 that is running on 4 instead of 6 phases.
Do AMD cards work different in that respect ? Do they check if each phase is working before starting up ? Or is it just a case of too low or unusable power to start up ?

yes i repaired my GTX 750ti in this manner, except it was the back of the card where someone had knocked off a couple VRAM supply resistors, after fixing that the card was fine.
