Does anyone have a datasheet for RS4180BL PLL Chip?

    Hi guys
Do any of you have a datasheet for this chip RS4180BL ? I have a motherboard which has a short circuit somewhere in this area. It's an Acer H57H-AM2 V2.0. I can't find a boardview for that either.

Does anyone have any other boardview that uses this PLL chip? That would probably help me at least identify the pins where I am seeing the short.

I only really think there is a short as I have an MLCC capacitor right by the PLL that reads short directly across it, it's not the capacitor itself that is short, but both sides are short to ground and I don't see any logical reason for fitting capacitors to the board with both sides connected to ground.

Looks to be a standard 32 pin QFN package with pin # 33 = middle ground pad (belly).

        Thanks Mon2
        That could help a lot

I've replaced the RS4180BL but still have the short

Re: Does anyone have a datasheet for RS4180BL PLL Chip?

OK Mon2 Thanks for the datasheet - it helped to some extent.

The short was the RS4180 itself - I traced it back to the FET or LDO that powers the PLL, and when I powered the motherboard up I got a bit of smoke from the PLL chip. I removed it and the short had gone. I thought I had already replaced this before but I left it on one side for a long time, so I could be wrong

Anyway I fitted a replacement (new), but the motherboard will still not boot up. My POST analyzer says 00 or 04. The CPU gets warm but not very hot.

Looking at the RS4180 I now have CK3V and CK3VA at 3.3V. The Xtal is oscillating but I have no clock signals generated. The other pins seem to make sense all bar one which is at 1.06V

              Here is what I have (Low - 0V, High = 3.3V)

              26 / 27 X1 X2 - Oscillating
              29 REF/SLC - Low
              23 SCLK - High
              2 SDATA - High
              2 PWRGOOD - High
              18 RESET* - HIGH
              8 FSLB - Low
              4 48M/FSLA - 1.06V (is this wrong???)

              All clock outputs LOW
              6 / 7 (PCH/VGA)
              10 / 11 (PCH / SATA)
              14 / 15 (PCH / DMI)
              20 / 21 (PCH)

I think my soldering is OK, please see pics and check it.

I need to know where that FSLA signal on pin 4 is coming from or going to, what it is, and whether 1.06V is incorrect. The schematic you gave me for this chip is taken from the correct motherboard H57H-AM2. Do you have the rest of it?

              Cheers
              Rich

Re: Does anyone have a datasheet for RS4180BL PLL Chip?

OK I can answer my own question here

Those signals FSLA, FSLB, FSLC come from jumpers on the motherboard that set the Bus speed to 133MHz/100MHz

The jumpers select between Ground and PCH_1P05V.

On my board I can't see any physical jumpers for this so I guess it must be hardwired but anyway

                My CPU is i3-530 2.93GHz = 22x 133MHz
                Jumpers
                1 0 0 = 133MHz
                1 0 1 = 100MHz

                FSLA 1.06V FSLB 0V FSLC 0V = 1 0 0 so it all makes sense.

The other pins seem to make sense
                PWRGOOD = High
                RESET* = High
                26/27 Xtal oscillator is running

All the other pins are either 3.3V power, Ground or clock outputs, apart from two.

Those two are 23 SCLK and 24 SDATA - Now this is an assumption but it seems possible that these clock data into internal configuration registers in the RS4180BL and thus enable the PLL. I had a look on my scope but I can't see anything happen at power on - they just go from low to high and stay there

The only way I can think that data could be clocked into the the RS4180BL would be if the PCH did it, as that has it's own 25HMz crystal (which is oscillating though only about 25mV high unless my scope is not too good at that frequency)

To be honest there are too many gaps in my knowledge here and that is why I am struggling. The PLL drives the PCH clock (PCH, PCH DMI, PCH SATA, PCH VGA) but the PCH has it's own Xtal 25MHz. So does the PCH start the PLL and why does it need the PLL?

Can anyone of you guys help untangle my brain so I can understand what is (or should be) going on here? H57 Chipset

                I have this datasheet
                https://cdn.badcaps-static.com/pdfs/...5c3d593ca5.pdf

But my head is fried lol

The CPU is compatible with this motherboard and has Vcore 1.02V, the PCH has power 1.8V, 1.06V, 3.3V. Both CPU and PCH get a bit warm

This is a guide that I am writing for helping others to replace their MEC1503 EC chip if it breaks (or to get around an inconvenient prompt to the BIOS). This forum has been extremely helpful to me so I would like to contribute to help others. I will tell you right now that this task is very difficult to do. You MUST have experience and tools to do precision micro-soldering, BGA reballing, trace repair, and general laptop repair skills.

There are some specialty tools needed to do this task. The replacement MEC1503 chips can be acquired from Aliexpress. Do not buy the bare chips as...

ASRock B650M PRO RS - BIOS CHIP 25Q256JW BLOCKED BY STATUS REGISTERS
                  by DynaxSC
                  Hi

I have a very strange issue with the BIOS SPI chip of an ASRock B650M PRO RS motherboard.
The SPI chip is an Winbond 25Q256JWEQ model (1V8).
The motherbaord doas not POST - it lits only CPU and DRAM EZ Debug Leds, and stays that way forever.
The Flashback function of the motherbaord is also not working, despite all instructions followed correctly - I'm 100% sure of this.

I have then desoldered the chip, backupped the contents, and tried to earease the chip in order to program stock image, but the chip is locked by status registers SREG2 (TB) and SREG6...

Nintendo Switch lite charging chip heats up and does not short circuit
                  by fab13
                  Hello everyone

Small technical problem on a Nintendo Switch lite
Here's what I noticed: the USB port has been damaged internally, with a short circuit on the power supply line to the small fuse.

After replacing the USB connector, the short circuit went away and I can't see any other short circuit in the whole motherboard.

When I charge the console, it seems to be charging: I get 15 volts and an amperage of 0.450 A.

Then, after a while, the amperage increases to 1.1 A and the BQ24193 charging chip starts to heat up, as evidenced...
