by ezeniaHello,
So I bought a faulty ASUS PRIME B450 PLUS motherboard off eBay. They said it was water damaged and they cleaned it. The PC POSTs and displays a message that it's detected USB overcurrent and will shut off in 15 seconds. I verified this myself. So I did some checks at the ATX connector 1st to see if the resistance readings looked OK. I found the 3.3V rail measures just 179Ohms which seems way too low. It's been much higher on other AM4 boards I've worked on.
So I did some Googling to see what the potential culprits are. It varies from bad protection diodes, bad...10-18-2025, 05:06 PM -

by TwieselI am currently working on a MSI X470 Gaming Pro Carbon that has a weird issue: The board is working fine on startup, but after the BIOS initializes, the board shows "USB overcurrent detected" on the screen and shuts down after 15 seconds. The issue is only happening when the system is ready to boot.
What I have tried so far:
-optical inspection: no damages whatsoever
-BIOS update: The BIOS was updated to the latest stable version (I) using the CH341 1V8
-PM_OC: I checked every double mosfet (7002N) that is connected to that line. All the PM_OC-signals are...09-02-2025, 10:40 AM -

by sant1Hello,
Could someone disable USB over-current protection in this bios? Message is displayed over display-port: "Over Current Have Been Detected On Your USB Device!! System will shutdown after 15 seconds to protect your mainboard!!"
Attached dump to this post.
Diagnosed and come to a conclusion that PCH is faulty, there are overcurrent voltage dividers (net names OC#0 to OC#7) on USB power lines, dividers output is nearly 0V, PCH is pulling some of them down. Dividers resistors values are ok and data lines and VCC are not shorted.
Thank...-
