    Itox CB60BX bad caps: identifying the good ones

    I have an Itox CB60BX rev. B1 that I got in 2002 and which has been sitting in the box since then except for being tested that it wasn't DOA. This is an industrial motherboard. I couldn't find any other PIII boards at that time with three ISA slots. Itox is a DFI subsidiary, I believe.

    Much to my surprise, when I went to check to see what brand caps the CB60BX sported, I discovered that it has some popped Teapo 1000uF caps! I'm going to recap when I get some time to do a careful job. There are other Teapos on the board, but then there are some gold on black 1000uF caps near the CPU and near the RAM with red markings that appear to be better quality. Does anyone know what they are? Any idea what would be a comparable or better replacement for the Teapos?

    the ones near the cpu are panasonic.
    those are ok.
    panasonic fm should do fine in the place of the teapo's.
    not the first time i have seen caps bulge just sitting on the shelf.

      Thanks. I'll get some Panasonics, Rubycons, or other high quality caps to replace those Teapos.

        I ordered some Panasonic FMs to replace those vented 1000 uF Teapos. I think that I only need to replace those four caps to get the board in good shape. There are some smaller Teapos as well, 100 uF and 10 uF, but I probably don't need to replace those if I understand most people's experience here.

          Hope the Re-cap goes well. Also, don't just replace the busted teapos, replace ANY that are 470uF and higher as Teapo will often fail without showing it.
          I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

          No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

            Re: Itox CB60BX bad caps: identifying the good ones

            c_hegge,

            My CB60BX/B1 has:

            three 1000 uF, 10 V, 8 x 15 caps,

            four 1000 uF, 10 V, 8 x 20 Teapos,

            eleven 1000 uF, 10 V, 8 x 12.5 Panasonic caps,

            two 100 uF, 16V, 5 x 10 caps,

            eighteen 10 uF, 25 V, 4 mm caps.

            I believe that the only large Teapos are the four 1000 uF ones, but I'll check.

            Thanks for the encouragement. I'm still a little worried that I'm not careful enough because of my two recapped FIC FB11s that are still not 100% yet. I won't tackle this until I'm sure that I can do this without fail.

              Identifying caps on an old Zoom 9000
              by Paxman_Swede
              Hello!

              I have two projects on my work bench. One is a friends dead JBL Xtreme speaker with a blown voltage regulator and corresponding bulged and shorted cap. That cap has clear markings so I know what replacement I need for it.

              The other project however is a whole different deal. It's a Zoom 9000 guitar effect from the 90th that has developed a devil hound howl when there is no input from the guitar. I'm guessing caps problem. So, since I don't really use this effect anymore I thought it would be a perfect project to learn on.

              I have studied the board and...

              Seasonic B12 BC-550 – barely 2 years old and with BAD CAPS already!
              by momaka
              I know I've been a little scarce lately (like the last 2-3 years), but I'm still here and still doing my thing with fixing PSUs.

              For today's considerations, I have a Seasonic B12 BC-550 [A551bcafh] 550 Watt ATX power supply for you (click on links for full size images).

              It's a modern ATX unit with fixed (non-modular) cables and an 80-plus bronze certificate. Here's the label:

              Assistance with identifying replacement caps on ASUS P5VDZ-MX
              by crosswinds
              Hello,

              So, pulled a motherboard out from storage, was working when put away, wont post when I took it out of storage today.
              Since it was working, and it looks to be essentially time that killed it I figured its a good idea to replace the caps before digging further.
              Looks to be only good quality caps on this board, so might not be the issue. But it is closing in on 20 years now so, wont hurt i guess

              Its a ASUS P5VDZ-MX board.

              I would really appreciate some assistance on what the best replacement caps would be for these:

              Heathkit IO-4205 Power Supply Caps
              by eryjus
              Hello,

              First, I am a complete noob with high voltage stuff. I'm learning, but I need help by someone looking over my shoulder.

              I recently came into posession of a Heathkit IO-4205 5MHz Dual Trace Oscilloscope. The documentation is copyright 1978. I'm told it works.

              I opened it up to check the caps before I applied power, and found the following black caps and wanted to know what they were. They are on the power supply board. I was able to read the name and model and came up with, "Nytronics 162J-1, 0.1uF, 20% tolerance, 2000VDC."

              GeForce 6800GT recap, need help identifying caps and finding replacements
              by fl0w
              Hi,

              I just noticed that my Asus V9999GT (GeForce 6800 GT) had some swelling capacitors. I managed to identify the brown ones, which are Nippon Chemi-Con KZG series, 6.3V 820µF, which I plan to replace with this.
              But for the yellow ones, I guess these are Fujitsu caps, without being able to identify which series... A picture of the video card is attached to the topic.

              I need to replace:
              • 2x 2.5V 1500µF => I plan to use this
              • 2x 16V 330µF=> I plan to use this
              • 1x 6.3V 680µF=> I plan to use this
              Am I correct with the cap choices?

              Thanks for...
