    No Timer Tick Intterupt

So....I've been recapping boards for a while now, most of them have been Dell Optiplex SX270's. (97% success rate). However, just recently, I've had two computers in a row display a "Timer Tick Interrupt" after a recap. I know what timer tick interrupt means, but I'm not sure what I did to cause this. When the first board went bad, I was a little irritated (after all that hard work), but I shrugged it off. Well, I just got finished with another board...low and behold, THE SAME THING! Now I'm pissed.

Has anyone else experienced this after a repair? Am I doing something wrong? I re-checked my work twice and couldn't find any cut traces or cracked solder joints, and all my tracks were clean before I resoldered the new caps on. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Possibly ESD damage to the southbridge
    Or damaged crystal

I take it both these boards did POST before cap and did NOT show this message?
So is your iron grounded properly? (and you?)

Oh, I could just be way off too :P

I had no way of telling, the computer would not power on at all. I'm guessing these computers did POST prior to the power problem, so I may have screwed it up. The soldering iron is grounded properly, and I try to discharge and electro-static prior to working on any board, but my mind was somewhere else yesterday, so I may have forgotten to do so.

I had no idea the southbridge chipset had anything to do with the timer crystal.

The usual troubleshooting steps apply...check for burned traces, solder bridges and bent pins, especially near the crystal.

Beware of tiny solder balls that can sometimes drop off your iron.

WD Sentinel DS5100 (NAS) boot issues
          by DeanWy
          Hi all,

I have a Western Digital Sentinel DS5100 NAS system which has stopped working. It has dual BIOS. I bought the system second hand with an already broken primary BIOS (it rebooted multiple times until second BIOS was used).

It worked until recently. The system was idle in Windows Server 2012 and a BSOD occurred, I think it was 'critical process died'. Thereafter it didn't boot, it just sat there with no video output and fan speed at 100% (there's a proprietary Windows driver by WD which controls the fan, outside of that it always runs at 100%).

          There...

ASUS GTX 1650 Gpu.Initialize Interrupt request line stuck asserted
          by mindoverflow
          hello,

there is an asus gtx1650 which displays fine in windows but if i run a benchmark test it displays artifacts and the driver crashes after a second or two.

I changed pads and thermal paste.

I run mats test but it is reporting 0 errors.

I then tried to run the mods version 400.271_1650 test, it first ran and stopped with a 'breakpoints limit reached after 5 retries' error and the fans went full speed.

After a reboot, I tried to run the test again, but now the test fails and says "ERROR: Couldn't clear GPU's interrupt...

Lenovo Thinkpad E14 Gen3 stuck on "To interrupt normal startup, press Enter" screen
          by BMCappelletti
          Hi everyone.
Lenovo Thinkpad E14 Gen 3, stuck on the "To interrupt normal startup, press Enter" screen.
Found a lot of people with this issue, but with no definitive answer. Some people managed to get away accessing BIOS, going to Startup and turning off "Option Key Display". For me that only removed the interrupt normal start up message, leaving only the Lenovo logo.
Most people say hitting Enter does not work. It's true, if you wait a few seconds. But if you hit Enter right away you get the options to enter BIOS (which works), run diagnostics (goes to a...

          Need help picking 12v timer!!
          by Storyteller12
I need a 12v timer that cuts on when 12v applied (when door is opened) and cuts off after 2 minutes even if he door stays open with the 12v trigger. And resets when door is closed.

The ones I see tend to start the timer when powered down. (Momentary switch)

          Thanks in advance
