What is this assembly on Abit SG-71 ?

I think I recall this SG-71 not working, so I put it aside

Having rediscovered it recently, I desoldered the remaining wires from the 8-legged IC, after which it did work

Although neither of its USB ports, nor its LAN port, work - assembly in question is just beside those ports connector block

So, what is it ? - an inductor glued to an IC, or what ?

Speaking of glue, I've tried scraping it off, without success

What can I do to fix it ? - rewind the core with strands taken from a cable, then resolder to the IC - or would those strands not being coated, be a show-stopper ?

Or replace the whole assembly with something from a scrap board ?

    looks like a pulse transformer.
i dont think it's a chip under it - just the original base.

I'm also going with a transformer for the data pairs of the 100mbit network card. Use a continuity mode on your meter to find where those traces go, they probably go into that RTL8100 network chip.

Didn't get a continuous beep from any of those 8 legs, to any of the leads on the Realtek chip

Two legs did give a brief beep to certain leads of the Realtek, similar to that produced when testing a Mosfet

It could be also filter for USB data lines.
2 pairs of D+ and D- located in same area as network socket.

I was too hasty opening this thread, thinking the assembly was unique to Abit

Not so, examination of scrap boards produced donor Gigabyte GA-8LD533, same vintage as SG-71

Donor assembly transplanted successfully - LAN and USB ports all working now

interesting that it also has pads for individual inductors.

That looks like a "Common Mode Filter" something like this https://cdn.badcaps-static.com/pdfs/...1c67be10dc.pdf

Lenovo Thinkpad X230T Convertible - display assembly and touch digitizer
                        by ElectricDoodler
I need the schematics and boardview for the display assembly and touch digitizer for an X230T convertible tablet from Lenovo. Would anyone happen to have them?

I have one in perfectly working condition, and I've been primarily using it as a drawing tablet for a while. But the CPU is showing its age with it not being able to handle larger canvases, so I would like to remove the display assembly and use it as a USB drawing tablet, and I need to verify the pin-layouts of the touch digitizer to do so.

                        Hi all

Hope this is in the correct place.

I'm planning on recapping both motherboards. I actually already ordered recplament caps for them, where I will be changing out most for poly's.
Could use some double checking to see if I'm not doing something stupid .

Pictures of the boards are attached.

                        Abit BE6-II motherboard
                        by ziplock
                        Greetings,

I have an Abit BE6-II motherboard that posts sporadically with the bare minimum components installed - CPU, RAM, PSU, and a Keyboard. I know it posts when the speaker beeps. Re-seating the components has no effect.

I thought the sporadic posting might be capacitor related. Upon inspection, non of the caps are bulged or leaking and they are all original. So, I pulled them ALL. While the ESR is OK, over half of them are leaking current between 1 and 2 mA. The biggest offenders are way out of spec, like a 1500uf / 6.3V measuring 2600uF and many of the 820uF caps...

                        Abit ST6-Raid repair
                        by tbalint3
                        Hello All,

I am trying to repair an old Abit ST6-R motherboard.

                        The symptoms are the following:
I got it in a non-working state. I was told that it sometimes turned on, but many times just the CPU fan was spinning and no other signs of life, the board didn't POST, and now it doesn't POST at all.

It was full of bulged electrolytic capacitors, so I replaced all of them with new Low-ESR ones, but it didn't solve the problem.
If I install a CPU in the S370 socket, only the fans are spinning and no POST. There are no beep codes even if the RAM DIMMs...
