HP ML110 G6 won't boot unless the CMOS is reset

    Hi all,

I have a HP ML110 G6 that won't boot unless the CMOS battery is removed and re-inserted.
The next warm reboot, power cycle or cold reboot, it will fail again.

The beep codes it gives is 1-1-1-2 which seems to correspond to nothing.
I've replaced the CMOS battery with a new one, just in case.

Genuine HP memory has been tried, it makes no difference.
The CPU has been swapped, it doesn't make a difference either.
The above are verified working in that machine as when you can get it to POST, it will quite happily sit in the BIOS.

I've managed to re-flash the BIOS and BMC with no luck.
The Integrated Lights Out (BMC) always works and doesn't detect any issue with the hardware.

There are only two electrolytic caps on the motherboard (Sanyo), the rest are poly caps.

    Does anyone have any thoughts?

    Sean.

Re: HP ML110 G6 won't boot unless the CMOS is reset

From research, this board does actually have Sanyo (Suncon) SMD electrolytics (some of which are easy to identify with the presence of a vent stamp) which may appear to be polymers. This may seem like a dumb question but does it work if you leave the CMOS battery out (which would reset CMOS upon each boot up, after you remove and reapply AC power) ?

A bad chipset is a possibility. A SMD transistor critical for proper operation of the CMOS battery, around that area, could be bad as well.

      What's not working right?
The system does not even POST, display is black,
LEDs on - power led, aiplane mode, capslock fpr few seconds in the start(when connected to ac power) only.

      When did the problem happen?
My laptop had dual boot setup, ubuntu and windows 10.
It already had a moklist error, that would occur when i tried to boot ubuntu.

TPS 51125 only works after cmos Reset. HP 820 g1
      by IamPritesh
Laptop will only start after cmos reset. TPS51125 does not generate 3/5 volt once you shutdown the system and try to turn it on again. Any pointers will be appreciated,

Nintendo Switch Oled HEG-001: Second-Stage Boot Failure
      by privato89
      Hello everyone,

I'm facing an issue with a HEG-001 motherboard that is unable to complete the Second-Stage Boot. I'd like to start directly with my conclusion, which is the decision to replace the MAX77621AEWI chip, and understand if it could be a correct evaluation.

Before I dive into the process that led me to this decision, I want to mention that I have a fully equipped lab where I can perform any kind of tests.

      Let's begin:

Following some guides online, I tried to understand how the Boot phase of the Nintendo Switch works, and what are the...

Xiaomi router freezes at boot after re-capping
      by hinisa
I'm using Xiaomi Router 4A gigabit edition as wireless repeater. It worked fine for 2 years or so, but last week, wireless started to disappear.

When I unplug/replug the power, it was working fine for a day/half a day or so until it freezes again.

After testing with different power supply adapters and concluding it wasn't the issue I finally opened the case and this was the situation:

Anyway I proceed to clean up the mess and replace all caps but unfortunately it made the situation worse. Now router can't even boot, either it freezes during...
