At least two of my capacitors are bulging and leaking.
One looks like the top is coming off.
They are both just to the left of the ATX Power Supply Connector.

MSI K7 Pro VER;1 (MS-6195 ATX IR3)
They are Black and Gold and say RLE on them.
I can't see any more at this time because the CPU is in the way.

When I went to the MSI forums it seems they are only going to stick with their 2 year warranty.

Other people at the MSI Forums have had trouble with these two caps and two others that must be under my heat sink.

I do not have the tools, eyes or hands to solder on a motherboard.

If I have to pay too much to have it done, I will be better off just getting a new mobo and cpu.

Know anyone in the Minneapolis area that will do this at a fair price?

Topcat will recap your board professionally, check the main page for details. you will post the board to him and he will post it back. he is doing great work and has the same width of caps available so it will look excellent also.

if you are going to choose another repairer then please check some reviews/opinions about them, they could trash your board or do a bad job.

if you are going to go the route of a new board, wont you need new DDR ram also. i am not familar with amd but maybe a new psu also. your setup is kinda old so maybe time for an upgrade. i would recommend an abit board for good caps as long as they are still specifying rubycon caps, forget about msi they have done me bad also on 4 boards with bad caps.

I have one of these boards as well. Picked it up at an auction. Has all the symptoms of a set of bad caps. (Requires a power re-cycle to get it to post, strange flakiness and instability, even when simply running up a CPU and memory with some test software from a floppy - no O/S or drivers getting in the way)
It has a mix of Sanyo, unbranded and Tayeh caps on it, so may be a later revision or a re-capped board gone slightly south.
I've been thinking of giving it a fresh set of caps myself if I can ever find the time and components.
