    Heatsinks are known to trap water.

    I always air-dry my motherboards and never had a problem with that. No alcohol used. Just need to find a sunny spot and leave them for a few days. Usually 4 or more to keep it safe.

      on your 3rd post, you don't state if either board was working before cleaning them; and if either of them was working, what problems, if any, were present.
      i made a similar mistake... whereas if i powered up the board and watched how it ran prior to recapping (or cleaning), there would have being the option to compare before and after states.

        They got a quick test to see if they POSTed, otherwise not worth wasting time & money cleaning

        No extensive testing because of the filthy condition they were in
        better to keep quiet and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt
