    Gigabyte GA-7DX+

Caps are not visibly failed, but are OST's, so they're getting replaced now to prevent future issues.

    Cap count?

    (4) 3300uf 6.3v
    (3) 1200uf 10v
    (8) 330uf 25v

I have to ask, why the need for 25v rating?

Tested the board before recapping... no post.

    Recapped anyway, still no post.

Tried all the culprits, CPU, FSB speed, RAM, Cards, drives/nodrives... simply won't post. Board was a freeby and was not known to be working, so I'm pulling my good caps back off and trashing the rest. Oh, but I will keep that massive NB heatsink

          1. Backup BIOS it supposed to be activated automatically when the main BIOS fails. There's no hard switch that I know of.

          2. As such, there's no clear CMOS jumper, either. I did pull the battery (with the PSU off) and short the contacts, but that didn't help any.

          3. As soon as I turn the PSU on, the board fires up and sits there humming along. I can then shut it off, but only by shorting the power on spot for 5 seconds. Once it's off, it will stay off, but firing it back up still won't get it to POST.

I've also tried it with two different known good CPUs

an Athy XP 1500+ (133mhz FSB)
              an Athy 900mhz (100mhz FSB)

And yes, I did have the FSB jumper set correctly both times

It seems short circults, need to cheap voltage of the compents by a multimeter. Hwoever, that's need many of repair experience. I think you should a little experience at this level, so give up.

                          by DynaxSC
                          Hi,

I discovered a strange behaviour of GIGABYTE GA-H110M-S2 board.

                          General test conditions:
                          - Tested with Core i5 6500 and Core I7 6700K - no difference
                          - Default BIOS settings, but tried also altering several memory setting - does not change anything

                          What is wrong:

With BIOS F1 and F2 the board normally POST's and boots to Windows 11 with 2 x Patriot Viper Steel PVS416G440C9K RAM (4400MHZ, Samsung B-Die chips)

When BIOS upgraded to anything above F2 (ie. F20-F27b) the board POST stucks after 3 Debug Codes on Code C2
                          ...

                          A Dead/DOA Gigabyte GP-P450b 450W ATX PSU
                          by momaka
More eBay specials: this time a Gigabyte GP-P450b 450W ATX PSU for $8 with free S&H. Listed “For part/not working”, as usual. Showed up in a beat up EVGA box without any padding… but that's understandable given the total price. PSU made it out fine without damage. It's a non-modular (yay!), pretty modern-day looking PSU with a black paint and all black cables (meh, not my favorite, but figure it's good to keep a few of these in case I do need one for a more modern PC build, just so my old gray boxes don't look too odd in there.)

And a shot of the label:...
