Asking here as a last ditch effort:
GPU: EVGA RTX2070 Black Edition XC Gaming
A few weeks ago i noticed a burning electronics smell in my room, after a bit of confusion i realized that the RGB LED light of my GPU was out. Weird.
I didn't think much of it until i tried to look at the power usage in HWinfo, i then noticed that the entry "GPU Power (Total)" was gone entirely, it would also not boost above 1410Mhz.
Looking further i noticed that "Performance Limit - Utilization" was always at "Yes". The card did perform mostly normally, just didn't boost at all.
The slider for max power in MSI Afterburner is greyed out too.
I proceeded to take some measurements, only to then see that the ground via to the connector that connects to the fans and RGB daughterboard was charcoaled.
Doing further measurements i found a shorted ceramic cap on the RGB board between 12V and GND, i replaced it with an appropiate cap, and running a new ground wire to the connector.
Now the RGB works again, but i can't adjust the light at all in EVGA's RGB software, neither do i see any power usage or can adjust such.
I tried to measure the I2C bus on the RGB board, there's only like 100-200mV on it, no clock nor data.
What are my options now? Measuring the I2C bus towards ground or 12/5/3.3V seems inconclusive, i also don't know what header has the SCL and SDA lines on the card so i could do further experimentation.
Does anyone happen to have an idea?
