Dell XPS 600 SLI Nvidia Chipset power issue

    Morning everyone;
I have 2 x dell XPS600 SLI motherboards, neither will POST. The diagnostic lights on the case indicate an 'internal power problem'. The power button is lit as solid amber together with the No4 diagnostic.

I came accross this site by chance when looking for a place to diagnose / repair the motherboards and so my interest has now been peaked!!

I do not in any way shape or form have any experience of repairing motherboards, or know where to start............so I've been searching through your forums.

I am a network manager / system admin by trade an have plenty of experience in diagnosis problems to a system component level, not to a motherboard component level!!

After reading the reference about looking for damaged caps, I checked the boards and there is no 'obvious' signs of bulging or leaking with the vast majority being made by Rubycon.

So it could be the VRM. Before condeming them completely, given there appears not to be any visual signs of damaged caps is there another way of testing them in situ, ie measure resistence, voltage tests?

    many thanks

It could be bad CPU VRM caps, I have an XPS600 and currently it is still running, but 2 capacitors (aluminum electrolytic) that are close to a DIMM slot have burst. All of the caps that I see that are near the CPU socket are solid polymers (nichicons possibly). My powersupply seems to be ok though. Any thoughts as to weather I need to replace all caps on the board or just those that are aluminum electrolytic?

Dell G3 17 3779 Weird power cycling and shutdown/restart issue
        by SuperJames
This one's a weird one, and still unsolved despite it having gone back to Dell once.

        Specs

i7-8750H, GTX 1060 Max Q, 500GB SSD & Seagate 7mm 1TB HDD. 17.3 IPS screen. This has the fingerprint reader in the power button.

        Backstory

I bought this from eBay, from a wallpapering shop. £650 in 2020 which was a good price considering it's a gaming laptop. Physically it's in perfect shape, apart from the hinge mounts on the palmrest failing in the time I've had it (I have a new palmrest for it). The usual thin plastic crap modern build quality!...

Dell E6400 PT434 type Battery Charging Stuck at 1%. Battery Pinouts?
        by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.
I have tried multiple different Dell power adapters. My Dell...

Dell Inspiron 3480 All in One corrupt Bios issue: reaches Dell logo and stops
        by computerbacon79
The Dell Inspiron 3480 I own (the all in one, not the laptop) is not wanting to turn on at all. It goes right to a dell logo, but it stays there forever with no other information on the screen. Holding the automatic Bios repair key combo (ctrl+esc) that should let it read a recovery file off a USB drive gets stuck on a black screen and does nothing. No amount of resetting anything so far has worked, and Dell's own support downloads have not really helped. Ive tried another BIN file I found online using my CH341A, and this got me slightly more, that time it displayed a loading bar that never moved...

Dell Latitude 3510 Overheating & Fan Control Issue – Need Help
        by Ven
Dell Latitude 3510 (Intel Core i7-10510U) CPU Overheating

        Issue Description:
        1. CPU Overheating to 100°C
          • When I start the laptop from a cold state, it takes about a minute to reach temps around 80-90-100°C, and CPU thermal throttling triggers.
          • When the CPU fan is running at full speed (by disconnecting PWM and TACH cables), CPU temperature stays around 50-60°C.
          • However, when the fan is connected normally to the motherboard, it does not kick in at high temperatures.
          • I also noticed a few times that the fan kicked in for a very short time, but it does not stay on consistently.

Dell G15 5515 RGB Keyboard Not Detected (Compatible Keyboard, Possible BIOS/EC Issue?)
        by NotEnough
        Hi everyone,

I'm working on a Dell G15 5515 (Ryzen 7 5800H, RTX 3050 Ti) and recently installed a compatible 4-zone RGB keyboard and controller (for Dell G15 5510/5511/5515 models). While the keyboard functions for typing, the RGB lighting is not detected by Alienware Command Center (AWCC), which displays “No AlienFX devices found.”

        What I've Tried So Far:
        • Reseated the cables.
        • Reinstalled AWCC and AlienFX services.
        • Attempted BIOS downgrade but no improvement.
        • Inspected ribbon cables for damage.
        • Explored the possibility of BIOS or
